A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Ivy Hill Cemetery near Malcom.
The family will greet family and friends following the service at the Malcom American Legion Hall.

Bio:
Howard Badger age 93 of Fort Dodge, Iowa died on Thursday at the Bickford Cottages in Fort Dodge. Interment in the Ivy Hill Cemetery north of Malcom, Iowa.Howard Leslie Badger was the son of Harold and Bertha Johnson Badger. He was raised in Tama, Iowa and attended public schools. Following his education he served with the Army Air Corp during WW II in Italy.
He was married to Edna Baltisberger on June 4, 1945 in Montezuma, Iowa. They were the parents of Irlene, Irvy and Scott
They farmed near Malcom and later moved to a farm near Des Moines, Iowa. From 1964 to 1969, he managed the FELCO research farm in Fort Dodge. They moved to Roland and he worked in sales for the Roland Elevator until his retirement in 1984.
Following their retirement, they lived on their farm near Malcom, where they loved to display outdoor Christmas lights. In 2010, they moved to Badger and later to Bickford Cottages in Fort Dodge.
Howard enjoyed gardening, camping and wintering in Texas. As a veteran of WW II he especially enjoyed the "Honor Trip" to Washington D C to view various war memorials.

Irving Wilbur Baltisberger was born September 16, 1929 at the farm home south of Malcom, where he lived in the same house and enjoyed the country life for almost 82 years. His parents were John and Lodi Gardner (Carpenter) Baltisberger. He graduated from Montezuma High School in the spring of 1947 with athletic honors. He attended the Boys State. His classmates always called him Balsey. After the death of his father in January, 1949, he engaged with his mother in farming and dairying. On August 9, 1953, Wilbur was united in marriage to Darlene Vesta Johnston at the Montezuma Presbyterian Church where he also was a member later in life.
In 1976, he started his own business Baltisberger Pump Service, Inc. After suffering a stroke in 2001, he continued to work on the farms and enjoyed restoring Farmall tractors, sports (especially the Iowa Hawkeye games), traveling (his favorite trip was Australia and New Zealand),dancing, playing 500, Freecell, keeping the grandchildren and looking forward to Pastor George visiting. Wilbur organized DHIA (dairy testing) in our area, served as President of Malcom Manor for several years, was a member of Poweshiek County Farm Bureau and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Ronald Balitberger and his sister Odessa Douglass.

Janice C. Beedon passed away on February 6, 2011 at the age of 91 in Torrance, CA. She was born on October 30, 1919 in Wisconsin to Charles H. Carpenter and Lena Thompson. She grew up in a rural area attending grammar school in a one room school house. Janice graduated from Tomah High School in 1937. In 1938, she moved to Chicago and worked at Montgomery Wards. Janice met Clinton Beedon in March, 1943. Clinton was in the service and stationed in San Diego. He wrote her and asked her to marry him. They married on July 20, 1943 in San Diego. They lived a wonderful life and celebrated 65 years of marriage. Janice and Clinton lived in Torrance since 1950. Janice worked at May Co. Dept. store for 22 years and retired in 1982. Clinton retired from Northrop Aircraft in 1982. They spent many happy years traveling in their motor home. Janice is survived by two children, Roger Beedon (Judy) of Llano, CA; and Cheryl Brewer (Richard) of Wildomar, CA. She has five grandchildren, Jennifer Beedon Nashashibi, Tricia Beedon McDonald, Kristen Brewer Raxter, Douglas Brewer, and Tracy Brewer Macdonald; and 5 great grandchildren: Noor and Adli Nashashibi, Clinton and Jackson McDonald, and Gracie Raxter. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 am at Hope UMC, 3405 Artesia Blvd., Torrance, CA. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery. He was born in Carsonville, Michigan on June 16, 1917 to Arthur E. and Keturah Weyeneth Beedon. He was one of eight children, all are deceased. Clinton served in the U. S. Marine Corps from March 1942 to April 1946. Married the love of his life, Janice Carpenter on July 20, 1943 in San Diego, CA. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in 2008. He is survived by his wife, Janice, and children, Roger C. Beedon/Judy and Cheryl Brewer/Richard; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Tricia, Kristen, Douglas and Tracy. Five great-grandchildren, Noor, Adli, Clinton, Jackson and Gracie. He worked at Northrop Aircraft in Hawthorne for 32 years, retiring in 1982. Traveled in their motor home throughout the USA, Mexico and Canada. Clint was a dedicated member of Hope UMC, serving in many capacities. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009 11:00 a.m. at Hope UMC, 3405 Artesia Blvd., Torrance, CA. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery at a later date

The Emporia Gazette - 8 July 1971 - Page 3 - " MRS. OWEN GARDNER DIES - HARTFORD - Mrs. R. Owen Gardner, a longtime resident of the Hartford community, died Wednesday night in the Hartford Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church and burial will be in the Lena Valley Cemetery north of Madison. The Jones Funeral Home in Lebo is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Gardner was the former Carrie B. Gasche, daughter of W. B. and Elizabeth Greer Gasche. She was born Sept. 6th, 1880, in Wauseon, Ohio, and she was married on March 12th, 1902, in Hartford. Mrs. Gardner was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Hartford Chapter 334, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Topeka Council of the Ancient Toltec Rite. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Dec. 27th, 1963, and she is survived by one son, Carol, of Kansas City, Mo.[Carol was actually another daughter, not a son]; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Erma) Bangs, Madison; Mrs. Hugh (Margaret) Jones, Hartford, and Mrs. Earl (Inez) Butterfield, Canton, N. Margaret G. Jones, 99, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.Mrs. Jones began teaching in 1924 at District 116 in Lyon County. She later taught at Neosho Rapids and Hartford before she retired in 1969. After retirement, she returned for two more years to manage the lunch program at Hartford.
The daughter of R.O. and Carrie Belle Gasche Gardner, she was born Dec. 19, 1905, on a farm southwest of Hartford. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1923 and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.
She married Walter R. Thomas on June 8, 1933. He died May 1, 1944. She married Hugh F. Jones on Aug. 17, 1953. He died Dec. 7, 1996.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a 75-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and previously, a member of the Hartford Library board and the Council on Aging.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth G. Thomas of Hartford; two grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Three sisters and a grandson, Steven Thomas, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Hartford United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.

The Topeka Capital Journal May 1, 2001EMPORIA --- Carol R. Gardner, 91, Emporia, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at an Emporia hospital.
She had been a school teacher before going to work for TWA in Denver. She moved to Kansas City, Mo., in 1947 and worked in the trust department of Commerce Bank until she retired.
She was born March 12, 1910, in Hartford, the daughter of Robert Owen and Carrie Belle Gasche Gardner. She attended grade school at Elmendaro and graduated from Topeka High School. She earned a degree in business from Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. She had lived in Emporia since 1999.
Survivors include two sisters, Margaret G. Jones, Hartford, and Inez Butterfield, Rochester, N.Y.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hartford United Methodist Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Lena Valley Cemetery. Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, Lebo, is in charge of arrangements.
