Donna Ione Harris

Donna Ione was divorced from LeRoy, 19 Nov 1949  Married (2) George E. Hellewell, 1950, divorced 13 Sept 1971.  Donna researched and compiled many of the descendants of Robert Carpenter (Abt 1775) and Phebe McNair (1781) Carpenter. As many ancestors as we could find are also included.    Donna is retired from School Administrative work and spends most of her time compiling Carpenter and related family records. She has spent many, many hours researching and collecting data on these families.  She received tremendous help from Elma Carpenter of Battle Creek, MI, and Helen Fox of Canandaigua, NY, as well as many others too numerous to mention.

The material in these records have been sent to us from the individuals themselves and/ or relatives. We have also found additional  information in official records,  newspapers, and reunion notes. We will not be responsible for  errors we may have received, as all material has not be validated.    With all our  attempts for accuracy, we know their will be some errors, but  none were purposeful.   Please be charitable, we have tried very hard to be accurate. Some files were edited for grammar and/or spelling errors, and some were not.

We feel you, who are searching for your ancestors, will be saved countless hours if you find your name in this file as all people are linked to ancestors and descendants if they were known or could be found.  The 14,606 names we are submitting to John Carpenter for his "Carpenter CD"  represent over forty years of research.   The cost to do this much compiling, has not been calculated, but it is a considerable amount.  Please use the information we are providing with care, and respect the privacy of those you meet through this file.  Thank you, Donna Harris Hellewell.  Submitted in March 2001.

Living in SLC 2007.  < DIHarrisH@aol.com  - email no longer valid >
Per her daughter, Teriless, she is still alive and doing fair as of 23 Mar 2015.

Carl Burnell Yates

Parents:  Harry Elmer YATES & Jessie LASWELL

41469. Delphia Jackson

Delphia had 3 daughters and 1 son.

John Nicol

One son and three daughters survived at his death. He had a sister Agness Nicol of Marshal in 1982, a foster sister Mrs. Gladys Termain of West Union, 16 grand children and 12 great-grandchildren at his death.

41472. Mary Lucille Jackson

Mary Lucille was 80 yrs old at time of death.  She had 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, according to her obituary.

Vern Ray Davison

Vern Ray died at age 80, of RR2 Martinsville, IL.   He had a brother, Ralph
Davison of Marshall, IL.

41473. Mabel Josephine Jackson

From a letter written in 1966 we were given a different wedding date--13 Sept 1923.

Howard McNair was distantly related to Mabel Josephine Jackson prior to their marriage.    Howard was the son of Nora McNair who was the daughter of John Abner McNair and Eliza Jane Eaton.  John Abner McNair was the son of John H. McNair and Hannah Allen Carpenter. (Hannah Allen Carpenter was a sister to John McNair Carpenter, who is the father of Eunice Carpenter Jackson,  Mabel Josephine Jackson's mother.  Therefore Mabel's grandfather, John McNair Carpenter was a brother to Howard's great-grandmother Hannah Allen Carpenter.

There is even a further relationship because John McNair Carpenter and Hannah Allen Carpenter's mother's maiden name was McNair, Rebecca McNair Carpenter, and her brother Thomas Allen McNair was the father of John H. Nair, Howard's great-grandfather.   If you go one generation further back, Abner Carpenter's, (Rebecca's husband and father to John McNair Carpenter and Hannah Allen Carpenter), mother was Phebe McNair Carpenter, wife of Robert Carpenter.  Robert's father, also named Robert, was killed in the Revolutionary War.  We finally found that Phebe McNair and Rebecca McNair's fathers were half-brothers.  The McNair line is interwoven with the Carpenter line in several places.  We are indebted to Mrs. Fox in Canandaigua, NY for her work on the McNair line as well as Robert Carpenter line.  Hopefully, records we have on the McNair line may be published.

Mabel was listed as "of Akron, OH" on sister Mary's obituary.  Miss Cox's letter gave husband's (Howard McNair's) mother as Nora McNair. Miss Cox was a grandaughter to Jane Carpenter, daughter of Abner Carpenter and Rebecca McNair.

Howard Eugene McNair

Mother was Nora McNair.  This is correct.

41477. Kathryn Louise Jackson

She is listed as Mrs. Clem, living in Martinsville on an obituary of a family member.

Woodford Gene Williams

He was 63 at death.   Surviving sons: Joe of West Union, (IL), Roger of Irving, TX, and Richard of Marshall, (IL).  3 brothers:  Harold D. of Cassey, IL, Leon of Martinsville, and Perry Jr. of Marshall and 8 grandchildren. Death record in Marshall, Clark, IL, has his name as Woodrow, but it should have been Woodford.
