Muriel’s husband was Clyde S Rogers.  Their first child, Clyde L, was born in 1929 and died in 1934.  They had at least 3 other children: Melvin, Emma and Lyle.

Eleanor lost two husband’s under unusual circumstances.  (I’m including newspaper clippings about both)

Eleanor’s first husband was Donald Edward Baldwin, son of Millard Fillmore Baldwin and Maude Leona Barnard.  He was born 19 Aug 1925 in Idaho and died 12 Oct 1954 in Siuslaw River near Mapleton, Utah, OR.  He and Eleanor’s brother Earl were on their way to a hunting trip; their car was found in the river, without their bodies, which were found later.

Her second husband was Robert Bartly McMullen, son of David McMullen and David McMullen.  He was born 17 Jun 1917 in Oregon and died 10 Jul 1967 in Waldport, Lincoln, OR.  He was killed by a 19-year-old with a gun (who wounded a couple other people).

She was married once more, to George Myers in about 1987.

Vernon was born 7 Aug 1936 in Everett, Snohomish, WA and died  7 Aug 1936 in Everett, Snohomish, WA.  He is buried at Roseburg National Cemetery - Roseburg, Douglas, OR - Section G, Site 64  (Find A Grave Memorial# 47702010)

His wife was daughter of Fred S Newberry and Celia Mae Johnson.  She was born 5 Nov 1931 in Springfield, Greene, MO and died 15 Apr 1997 in Myrtle Creek, Douglas, OR.  She shares her husband’s burial site and stone.  (Find A Grave Memorial# 47702031)

Mary Leeona Newberry

Mary Leeona Newberry Kennon Carpenter had three children by her marriage to Joseph Walter Kennon.  Since they are not Carpenter descendants, they are listed in these notes only.  The children are:  Warren Edward Kennon, b. 20 Dec 1950 in Santa Rosa, Sonoma, CA, he married 12 May 1971; Evelyn Joanne Kennon, b. 4 Feb 1952, in Hood River, OR, she married 31 Dec 1968; and William Howard Kennon, b. 30 Jan 1955 in Hood River, OR.  William died 30 Jan 1959.

NOTE:
A letter dated September 26, 1980 was written to Mr. Zale Carpenter of Falmouth, Michigan from Shirley Ann (Carpenter) Flescher of  Gladstone, Oregon:   She wrote, " I'm writing you in hope you may be some of my family.  My parents left Michigan in 1928.  My father was Lee Frank Carpenter.  I was three years old when he passed away.  I didn't know much about his family.  I'm working on a family tree in hopes I can find some of the family.  My family had some brothers and sisters, and I have a picture and on it is the name of Zael and Glen and Aaron and Ben and Agness and Lulu.  If you know any of them, will you please let me know.  And if you are part of the family, will you please send me some information on your family.  I hope to hear from you soon."

In November 2000 Elma Carpenter found on the Internet six individuals with the last name of Flescher in the State of Oregon.  She wrote letters to all six, enclosing a post card for them to return if they knew Shirley Ann Carpenter Flescher.  James Flescher responded stating that Shirley was his sister-in-law and gave Elma her address and telephone number.

Elma and Shirley corresponded and Shirley sent much information in January 2001 about her siblings, their spouses and her children, nieces and nephews.

Shirley Ann Flescher

Shirley Ann Flescher, a long time resident of Waldport, Oregon, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at her home at 1:46pm surrounded by her family. She was diagnosed with lung cancer November of last year and has fought the battle with chemotherapy. January of this year, her son, Dan Flescher, passed away. She was informed not long after his death that she herself, only had a few months to live.

She was born May 21st, 1939 to Beatrice Rozala Carpenter and Lee Frank Carpenter in Everett, Washington. After her father passed away, her mother moved her entire family to Waldport when she was three years of age. She attended Yachats School.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Andrew Flescher of Waldport; children: Carrie Edith Burage of Sheboygan, WI, Norma Overby of Astoria, Oregon, Don House of Aethna, Oregon, Dora Young of Newport, Oregon and Dianna McIntosh of Waldport, Oregon; grandchildren: Paul Doty, Angie Doty, Skyler Overby, Paul Overby, Amanda Gibson, Andrew Deal, Ben Burrage, Tyler Burrage, Daniel Flescher, Jessica Flescher, Chad House, Dora Shearer, Paul Plough, Nathen Plough, Norman Plough, Thomas McIntosh, Ashley Santana, Austen Cleland and Shelby Cleland; brother, Jim Carpenter of Astoria, Oregon and sister, Betty Rife of Grand Ronde, Oregon. She is also survived by her 28 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her two sons: Dan Flescher and Paul Andrew Flescher Jr; her mother, Beatrice (Carpenter) Otter, her father, Lee Carpenter, sisters: Murrial Carpenter, Agness Carpenter, Edna Baldwin, Mildred Meyers; brothers: Leonard Carpenter, Willard Carpenter, Willias Carpenter, Harold Carpenter, Earl Carpenter, Gordon Carpenter, Raymond Carpenter, Floyd Carpenter, Vernon Carpenter and Thomas Otter.

Memorial services will be held on April 13th, 2013 from 1:00 – 4:00pm at Yachats Memorial Park 1550 Highway 101, Yachats, OR 97498 with a reception following at the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church 360 West 7th Street, Yachats, OR 97498.

Daniel (House) Flescher

Daniel (House) Flescher, 52, of Milton Freewater, Ore., died of congestive heart failure on Jan. 2, 2013 at his home.

He was born May 15, 1961 to Andy and Shirley Flescher in Seattle, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Andrew Flescher Jr.

He is survived by his children, Daniel Lee Flescher Jr. of Yuba City, Calif., Chad House of Dubuque, Iowa, and Jessica Flescher of Yuba City; parents, Andy and Shirley Flescher of Waldport; siblings, Carrie Burrage of Wisconsin, Norma Overby of Astoria, Donald House of Athena, Ore., Dora Young of Newport, and Dianna McIntosh of Waldport; grandchildren, Dakota, Cody and Savannah, all of Yuba City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial for Dan will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Yachats Cemetery, followed by a get together at Dan's parents' house in Waldport for those who would like to attend.

Note: "Yachats" is pronounced "Ya-hots".
Note:  I have not been able to find a city or county for "Milton Freewater" in Oregon or Washington.  I do not know if this is an error by the paper.   I'm not a family member and have no further information.
