John M. Pherigo, was born in Jennings county, Indiana, Sept. 8, 1839, moved to Scotland county, MO., with his parents about 1853, where he resided until 1865, when he came to Putnam county. He was married to Mary A. Carpenter, Jan. 6, 1860. To this union was born ten children four girls and six boys, all living except one girl who died in infancy. One son was in Alabama, the others were all at his home when he died April 7, 1898. His companion died Sept. 24, 1896. He gave his heart to God and united with the church in his
