Edith Mae Carpenter Morrison
Birth: 19 Jun 1913
Death: 7 Oct 2006 (aged 93)
Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia, USA
Memorial #: 22054169
Bio:
Edith M. Morrison

Edith Mae Carpenter Morrison entered eternal life on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Ohio Valley Healthcare.

She was born June 9, 1913, at Creston, Wirt County, the daughter of David Emerson Carpenter and Liddie Agnes Tucker Carpenter. She attended Wood County Schools and married Henry Milton Morrison on Dec. 30, 1933.

Mrs. Morrison lived in Parkersburg and the community of Red Hill from 1946 to 1997, where she and her husband raised their children, Bud and Sally. Mrs. Morrison was employed at the Viscose plant for 10 years. Edith was active in 4-H; Red Hill United Methodist Church, where she was a member; a Sunday Bible school teacher; member of the Ladies Aide; and Red Hill PTA. Mrs. Morrison was also well-known for her handicrafts, sewing and cooking. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with her close relatives and friends, and rarely answered "no" when asked, "Do you want to go..."" She was a homemaker in the true sense of the word even after Henry's death in 1972. Her recipes, handmade crafts and hand sewn quilts and afghans have already become family heirlooms.

Mrs. Morrison moved to Ohio Valley Healthcare in 2002. As a resident there, she was involved in many activities, crafts, bingo and baking until very recently.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Morrison was preceded in death by her brothers, Everett and Kendall Carpenter; a sister, Hazel Kirby; along with Arthur Wyatt, her son-in-law; and a special friend, George Dunbar.

She is survived by her children, Sally Jo Wyatt of Parkersburg and William David "Bud" Morrison of Rockport; a brother, Charlie Carpenter of Harrisonburg, Va.; and a sister, Ruth St. Pierre of Baltimore, Md. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Mitch Morrison, Marci Hale, Missi Carpenter, Mindi Freshour, Jay White and Jill Zeigler. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kimes Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Terry Alvarez officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Bud moved his family to a farm in Rockport where he built a horse-boarding business, and raised and showed Quarter Horses. He loved spending time with his family more than anything, especially watching his grandchildren participate in various sporting events.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and is dearly missed by his family.

Leavitt Funeral Services will provide a private service and, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Fairlawn Baptist Church, 215 Fairlawn Drive, Parkersburg, WV 26101.

GRAVE: memorial only
Sally Jo Morrison Wyatt
Birth: 25 Sep 1938
Death: 29 Jan 2022 (aged 83)
Burial: Cremated

Memorial #: 236628789
Bio:
Sally Jo Wyatt, 83, of Sebastian Florida, formerly of Parkersburg, passed away Jan. 29, 2022, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida.  She was born Sept. 25, 1938, the daughter of Henry Morrison and Edith (Carpenter) Morrison, at Red Hill in Wood County, WV, where she lived throughout her years at school.

Sally graduated from Parkersburg High School, Glenville State College, and Marshall University. She worked for the Wood County Board of Education as a special education teacher and administrator. She was a strong advocate for people of all ages with special needs.

Sally was deeply rooted in her faith, had lifelong friendships and cared deeply for those close to her. She was especially interested in genealogy and keeping in touch with her roots in the Red Hill Community. She began taking piano lessons at six-years-old, riding the bus from Red Hill to downtown Parkersburg on her own. She was a wonderful pianist who volunteered to accompany events for her communities and churches.

She will be greatly missed by her companion, caregiver, and light of her life, Dennis Connelly, of Sebastian, Florida, who was always by her side.

She is survived by her brother Bud (Betty) Morrison of Belpre, Ohio; her children Jay (Kelli) White of Sebastian, Florida and Jill (Kenny) Zeigler of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia; her cherished grandchildren Bryan (Brandi) Zeigler of Albright, West Virginia, Jamie (Katie) White of Parkersburg, and Jennifer (Damian) Zirkle of Belington, West Virginia. She is also survived by five great-grandsons: Bryan, Logan, Wyatt, Beau, and Kye.

A memorial celebration of Sally's life will be held at a later date. Seawinds Funeral Home of Sebastian is assisting the family.
