Wayne E. Carpenter, 79, of Springfield died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Hospital.

He was born Dec. 15, 1913, in Humboldt, the son of Nathaniel and Cora E. Hill Carpenter.

He married Gertrude E. Malensky in 1937.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Carpenter was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was a window cleaner for 20 years. He was a foreman for Western Maintenance for 12 years and Hays Freight Lines for 12 years.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude E.; a son; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Stevens and Mrs. Dorothy Wilkinson, both of Humboldt; a brother, Mark of Humboldt; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at noon Friday at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Radtke officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

SPRINGFIELD - Gertrude E. Carpenter, 83, of Springfield died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

She was born April 11, 1918, in Springfield, the daughter of August and Katherine Nowak Malensky.

She married Wayne E. Carpenter in 1937; he preceded her in death in 1993.

Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors: a son; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marilyn (husband, Harold) Sturm, Marie Carpenter and Evelyn Davison, all of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Staab Funeral Home, the Rev. Thomas Radtke officiating.

Burial: Roselawn Memorial Park.

UTICA, Ky. - Mark Eugene Carpenter, 88, of Utica, Ky., formerly of Humboldt, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 24, 2012) at Owensboro Medical Health Center in Owensboro, Ky.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola with the Rev. Dale Tomas officiating. Burial will be at Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was born June 11, 1923, in Arcola, the son of Nathaniel and Cora Hill Carpenter. He married Vivia Odell in 1948; she died in 2006.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Carpenter of Muncie, Ind., and Monty Carpenter of Cooks Mills; one daughter, Toni Long of Utica, Ky.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Carpenter was formerly employed as a bus driver.
He was a member of Living Faith Baptist Church in Hartford, Ky.
Memorials may be made to the hospice of the donor's choice.

Genevieve L. Adams was born January 24, 1929 in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in Sioux Falls where she received her education, attending Hawthorne Elementary School and Washington High School. Following high school graduation, she worked at Barr’s Candy Factory in Sioux Falls.
She was united in marriage with Donald Carpenter on June 12, 1944 in Sioux City, IA.

Genevieve’s passion in life was caring for and raising her 10 children. She taught them to always be loving, kind and to be forgiving—not only to each other, but to others as well. After her children were grown, Genevieve was employed in the dietary department of Covington Heights Health Care Center. Her husband preceded her in death in 1983.

She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church.

The family of Genevieve Carpenter thanks you for your support and presence today. An invitation is extended to join them at the church for refreshments and fellowship following the committal service.

A service for Lavonne Moorhead "Bonnie" was held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Charles Compton of the Perry Bible Church in Perry provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were Bonnie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casket bearers were: Sammy Sloss, Nathan Summeraon, Trent Sloss, Koltin Sloss, Patrick Summerson and Michael Wood.
Recorded music selected was Arms of an Angel by Sarah Mclachlan and Swing Low. Interment took place at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.
Lavonne Charlotte Moorhead, daughter of Clarence Carpenter and Alice Wilt Carpenter, was born January 8, 1930 in Boone, Iowa and died April 12, 2015 in Perry, Iowa at the age of 85.
Lavonne grew up in Berkley, Iowa and Rippey where she graduated high school. In 1951 Lavonne and Willis Moorhead were united in marriage in Adel, Iowa.
The couple was blessed with three children Willis Jr., Dianne and Debbie. The family lived in Perry in the same house all of her married life.
Lavonne started babysitting for different families before becoming a Resident Treatment Worker for Woodward Resource Center.
She enjoyed being outside planting flowers, watching birds and feeding the squirrels.
Lavonne loved going shopping and garage saling but most of all she loved being around her family and friends.
Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Alice, husband Willis Moorhead (1984), son Willis Moorhead Jr., daughter Debbie Summerson, brothers: Carp, Neal and Frank, sister Beverly Crispin, a niece and a nephew.

A service for Frank William Carpenter was held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Perry, Iowa. Visitation was after one on Sunday, December 29, 2013 with family present from 5 until 7 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, Iowa. Reverend Ken Bose of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Perry provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were: his "Church Family", Austin McClure, Gerald Johnson, Dennis Peters, Ronald Barrett, Harold McClure, Maggie Hildebrandt, Katie Edmondson, Harry Cooper and Jose Castellanos. Casket Bearers: Glenn Peterson, Jr., Russ Moore, Ian Moore, Bob O'Hern, Kevin Hines and Ben McClure. Soloists were Ben McClure and Bob O'Hern. Hymns chosen were: On Eagle's Wings with Amazing Grace and Rock of Ages as congregational hymns.
Military honors were provided by the Iowa Army National Guard Funeral Honors, VFW Post #2060 & American Legion Post #85 both of Perry.
Following the service was a luncheon at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Perry.
Interment took place at the Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden, Iowa.
Frank William Carpenter, son of Alice Grace Wildt and Clarence William Carpenter was born December 24, 1938 in Ogden, Iowa and died December 25, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 75 years and 1 day. Frank attended school in Rippey and graduated from the Rippey High School. Frank grew up in Berkley, Iowa and worked for Don's Mobile Station in Perry until entering the United States Army in 1961.
He served as a reservist until 1967 and returned to Berkley where he married Bernadette Peters on June 18, 1966 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
The couple settled in Perry and lived in the same house their entire married life. Frank worked for the Asplundh Tree Service and for IBP/Oscar Meyer until they closed in 1988. He then worked for the Adel Brickyard until retiring.
Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and working in his yard. He cooked, repaired toy cars and tractors and enjoyed small engine repair.
He was a founding father of the Perry Isaac Walton League until it closed and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Perry. His greatest love was spending time with family and being Santa Claus for children in the surrounding areas for many, many years.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Neal and wife Bette; Lawrence and wife Wilma; sister Beverly Crispin and husband Bob; brother in law Willis Moorhead; nieces Deb Summerson and Heidi Carpenter; nephews Willis Moorhead, Jr. and Richard Carpenter.
Frank is survived by his wife, Bernadette of Perry; daughter Annette McClure (Ed) of Des Moines; grandchildren Ben William and Austin Frank McClure; sisters Laura Gehrke (Earl) of Lewiston, ID and Lavonne Moorhead of Perry, a brother in law Dennis Peters (Linda) of Perry and sister in law Lorna West (Russell) of Des Moines; nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
