Helen Agnes Cheyne, 97, of Loveland, died Oct. 11, 2003, at Loveland Good Samaritan Village Medical Center following a long and active life.She was born April 9, 1906, in Carroll, Iowa, to John and Rose Fiscus Carpenter. She married Bud Cheyne on July 16, 1928, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived in Council Bluffs, where Bud served on the fire department for 20 years before they moved to Loveland in 1975, to be near the family. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1983. She lived on her own for 20 years at the Silver Leaf Apartments.
Helen graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1926. She became the high school art teacher the following year at Abraham Lincoln High School. She worked as a professional artist and won numerous awards in art both in Iowa and Nebraska.
She was a member of the Foothills Baptist Church and also attended the Orchards Baptist Church.
She resided with her granddaughter and family for several months before she moved to the Loveland Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Helen loved being with her family and especially enjoyed the times when the entire family got together for celebrations. She and her good friend, Emma Hein, spent many Sundays together for dinner and watching the Broncos play football.
Helen is survived by two sons, Jack Cheyne and wife Maggie of Loveland, and Bill Cheyne and wife Elaine of Aurora; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-granddaughter [names omitted].
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Rose Cheyne, in January 1934.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, with Bill Cheyne officiating. Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park.

Donald N. Carpenter, 69, Asotin
Aug 9, 2007 Updated Apr 12, 2011Donald N. Carpenter left this Earth on Monday August 6, 2007, due to a tractor accident. He is now our guardian angel.
Don was born to Nell and Roscoe Carpenter February 2, 1938, in Fort Collins, Colo. He was raised in Saratoga, Wyo., and graduated from Platte Valley High School in 1956. He attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
He married Barbara Johnston in 1957, and they had three children: Mimi, Cynthia, and Greg. Don and Barbara were later divorced.
Don worked as an insurance adjuster for many years in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho before opening the BeeHive Store in East Lewiston. The family owned and operated the BeeHive Store until the fire ultimately closed the business. He then purchased the Asotin Market in Asotin, Wash.
He belonged to the Masonic Lodge Nez Perce #10, Scottish Rite, and Calam Shriners.
Don loved to socialize and always had a story to tell. Those who knew him the best knew that when he had a twinkle in his eye, not to believe a word he said. It was fun watching the people that believed every word, and more funny when they realized they had been had. He loved his property at Dworshak Reservoir where he spent many weekends fishing and boating with his family and friends. He loved to travel and see the country. Every trip he took was an adventure.
In 1990, he met his companion, Jan Stockard. Together they discovered a town called San Carlos, Mexico, where they spent their winters. Every year the trip got longer and longer. He made many friends in Mexico and he will be sorely missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his father Roscoe Carpenter and mother Nell Carpenter and his daughter Mimi D. Gordon.
Don is survived by his companion of 17 years, Jan Stockard of Asotin, Wash., daughter Cynthia Carter of Esparto, Calif., son Greg Carpenter of Lewiston, granddaughter Jenny McDougall of Lewiston, grandson Nick Carpenter of Walla Walla, Wash., and great-granddaughters Taylor Hunt and Shelby McDougall of Lewiston.
Memorial services for Don Carpenter are under the direction of Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home. The service is scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m., and will be conducted at Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home.
Memorial donations in Don's name can be sent to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 2472 Spokane, WA 99210-2472 or to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention 120 Wall Street - 22nd Floor, New York, NY 10005.

Brent Shay Carpenter, 74, of Wellton, Ariz., passed away July 7 at home.Brent was born April 4, 1939, in Longmont, Colo., to Roscoe M. and Nell T. Carpenter.
He grew up and attended school in Saratoga. He lived in Rawlins until 1990 before moving to Cheyenne with the Union Pacific Railroad. He retired after 30 years and moved to Arizona.
Brent was a proud and active member of the Korein Shrine and a 32-degree Mason and Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Elks and Moose lodges, and served in the U.S. Navy, 1956-60.
Brent was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley R. Carpenter; daughter, Reva G. Carpenter; and brother, Donald N. Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley G. (Sanders) Carpenter of Rawlins, whom he married April 4, 2003; daughters, Talli Carpenter Schmidt (Rod) of Rawlins and Denise Carpenter Brunger (Cary) of Melbourne, Fla.; son, Brent Carpenter Jr. (Christon) of Rawlins; stepsons, Edward Shofield (Renee) of Ketchican, Alaska, and Michael Scholfield (Julianne) of Emmett, Idaho; brother, Kenneth Carpenter of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Miriam Grace "Grandma" Carpenter, 98, of Hull, Ga., formerly of Lima, died at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 5, 2013.
She was born Nov. 15, 1915, to C. Obe and Grace Fetter Holmes, who preceded her in death. She married James M. Carpenter Sr., who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Carpenter was a 1937 graduate of Lima Memorial Nursing School. She was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a nurse at Fort Knox, Ky. In 1956, the family established Telephone Answering Service and Carpenter Radio Co., where she worked until her retirement. In the 1960s, she developed the Lima Bureau of Nursing Services, where she contracted private duty nurses. When she retired, she moved to Florida, where she worked at a Senior Staff Agency. She moved to Georgia, when she was 85, where she volunteered more than 10,000 hours at Compass Church. She was a 33-year breast cancer survivor. She had been a member of Benevolent & Professional Order of Elks, Registered Nurses Association and Association of Answering Services. She was a member of Market Street Presbyterian Church, Lima, Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church, Sarasota, Fla., and Compass Church, Athens, Ga. She was a gentle, grateful spirit, who was full of life, charm and knowledge. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Whether it was her stories, smile, wit or passion for life, we have all been blessed to celebrate with one of the most special and stately ladies on the planet. She had begun her dance on streets of gold. "Thank God who gives us victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Survivors include a son, James M. (Deloris) Carpenter Jr., of Palmetto, Fla.; two grandchildren, James M. (Lisa) Carpenter III, of Hull, Ga., and Miriam L. Carpenter, of Bradenton, Fla.; and five great-grandchildren, Shalin, MacLean, Matthias, Micah and Mackenzie.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Burdette Holmes; and a sister, Helen Frobase.
Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cairo East Cemetery, Cairo. James M. Carpenter III, her grandson, will officiate.
