Burial:
Memorial #: 125406912
Bio:
Cecil Sanderson, a native Mobilian and well known barber to Mobile customers passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 after an illness. He was preceded in death by his father, James C. (Jack) Sanderson, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Nina V. Eubanks, his step father, James M. Eubanks, his sisters, Martha DeMarco (John), and Carol Tice (Tom), his step brother, Wayne Eubanks, his step sister, Patricia Rohrkemper, his nieces, Rebecca Lee DeMarco, and Nina Cagle, his grand nieces, Jackie DeMarco, Megan Quigley, Christine Davis and Victoria Scott, his grand nephews, Jason Eubanks and Phillip Eubanks, his dear friends Diane Hilgert and Bill Barksdale, and numerous other friends and relatives. Cecil owned Cecil's Barbershop in Tillman's Corner and always created an atmosphere of cheerfulness and good fellowship for his customers. His barbershop was a special place that uplifted the mood of those he served for over thirty years. Cecil was also an avid fisherman, loved to pull big mouth bass into his boat and in the 1980's was voted "Rookie of the Year" in Mobile. Any time he went fishing you knew there would be stories to follow. Many of his fishing stories were shared in the barbershop and added to the enjoyment experienced there. He supported numerous charities, especially St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and was a great advocate for that institution. His joyful disposition, his talent for never meeting a stranger, his compassion for his fellow man, and the sheer pleasure of being around him will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. There will be a visitation at the Serenity Funeral Home at 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd., Mobile, AL. from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 21, 2014. Funeral services will be held at the Serenity Funeral Home at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Following the services burial will be at Serenity Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN. 38105 in memory of Cecil Sanderson.
