NAME:
Laura was born "Hannalore Eugenie" or "Eugenie Hannalora" and was legally adopted by Richard Carpenter and later assumed the English version of Laura Gene.
I have had her German name spelled as "Hannalora" because that is how I was given it. But, I am told the spelling is incorrect and it should be "Hannalore." ---- NEED BIRTH CERTIFICATE image! --- a search was done and it was not found. Laura’s husband and daughter both report her German name as Hannalore.
QUESTION: Could it be that her name when converted or translated into English was done incorrectly or modified for a another reason? I can probably “justify” that the Southern German dialect may have played a part. Many words ending with the letter “e” had an “ah” sound. Thus Hannalore could sound like Hannalora. And Sieglinde sounds like Sieglinda.Per the data below, her German name, ending with an “e,” should have been translated into English as Eleanor Gene and not Laura Gene. Where as the name ending with a letter “a”, would have easily translated into Laura (via the Lora) Gene. This may be one of those mysteries we will never resolve! JRC

Laura Gene Diehl 63 passed away November 20 2009 after a three year battle with colon cancer. She faced her disease with tremendous courage and dignity just as she lived her life. She was a devoted and loving wife mother friend " and grandmother. We will miss her always but she will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.Born in Bamberg" Germany she was the daughter of Richard L Carpenter and the late Kunigunda Schuhlien Carpenter. Mrs. Diehl was employed as a dental hygienist.
Survivors include her husband Richard Paul Diehl; daughter and son-in-law Michelle Marie and Brian Sobczak of Chesapeake; son Michael Paul Diehl of Suffolk; grandchildren Justin Allan and Erin Marie; sisters Linda Carpenter and Ruth Thurston; brothers John Carpenter and Richard Carpenter and cousin " Marjorie Carpenter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday November 23" 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Presentation Catholic Church by Father Piotr Bialkowski with burial in Arlington National Cemetery on December 11 2009 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society 604 Constance Woods Drive Suffolk VA 23434. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.

Joseph Rafael Sena was a retired US Air Force enlisted man who changed his E-8 (enlisted master sergeant) to O-8 (officer major general) on his military retired ID card and impersonated a two star USAF Major General for over a decade. This include claims of being a pilot and other combat related awards. He enjoyed the privileges of such a general officer rank at numerous games, clubs and other civil activities. He received benefits and accolades for his FAKE service. This was a clear case of stolen honor. While doing this he married Linda Carpenter.
Later "General Joe" was found out to be a fraud, and was investigated by the NCIS (Navy Criminal Investigative Service) in April 2004 and he lost his FAKE military officer privileges. Sadly, the US Military declined to criminally prosecute because of loop holes in the civil law after a General Court martial found him culpable.
He was lucky because the "Stolen Valor Act of 2005" was signed into law by President George W. Bush on December 20, 2006. That was a U.S. law that broadened the provisions of previous U.S. law addressing the unauthorized wear, manufacture, or sale of any military decorations and medals. SENA, JOSEPH RAFAEL October 24, 1926 to July 6, 2010 Joe Sena was born in San Diego, on October 24, 1926, and passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends, where he belonged. Joe served in the United States Army Air Corps in World War II, and then continued his service to his nation in the U.S. Air Force for a total of 47 years. He retired under the auspices of USAF Chief of Staff and 4-Star General Curtis LeMay. I lost a friend this past weekend. Friend really doesn’t cover what Chuck was to me, though. We all have “Hi. How you doing” friends. We even have friends we cry with when they lose a loved one. Our friendship was of a deeper level, the kind that takes time to grow.
Aristotle once said friends are two people who share the same soul. That’s the kind of friends Chuck and I were. Until the weekend, I had three people in the world I could be completely open with. Now, sadly, I have two.
I met Chuck probably 35 years ago at Walt Davis’ house. Walt had a ministry to both Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons. I had been there to learn how to reach Jehovah’s Witnesses and Chuck, Mormons. We met as one of us was leaving and the other was coming in and hit it off.
We both had a degree in philosophy. We both were sold out Christians. We both strove to be men of high moral standards.
Chuck was the first contractor I hired when I had too much work in photographing homes. Before long, we were business partners in a growing company. Business partners seldom can remain friends. We became closer.
Even though we both were photographers, I don’t think I have a photograph of Chuck. I don’t need one to remember him, really. When I think of Chuck, I think of him laughing, smiling. I will greatly miss my friend.NUWBER:

John Robert Carpenter, 70, of Amarillo died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015.Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. Darryl W. Evetts officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
John was born Aug. 3, 1945, in Arlington, Va., to Marie and Charles Carpenter. He was a veteran of the Marines, serving two tours in Vietnam. He moved to Amarillo and became one of the original gunfighters at Six Gun City at Palo Duro Canyon. He worked for Southwestern Bell for over 30 years before retiring. He married Margie Brooks on Aug. 13, 1977, in Amarillo.
John loved to bowl and coach junior bowlers. He also enjoyed coaching his daughter’s softball teams. He was a huge supporter of the activities of his daughters, his sons-in-law, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren and he made sure his voice was heard.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a granddaughter, Tanna Lee Escoto.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Carpenter; four daughters, Candis and husband David Wilson, Carrie and husband Elmer Escoto, Connie and husband Russ Hawkins and Cristy and husband Pete Lomeli, all of Amarillo; his mother, Marie Swaim of Glencoe, Ala.; two brothers, David Carpenter and wife Kathy of Statham and Georgia and Mark Elrod of Glencoe, Ala., two sisters, Marilyn and husband Tony Elrod of Glencoe, Ala., and Wanda and husband Neal Lincoln of Mayer, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and good friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be to Don & Sybill Harrington Cancer Foundation to benefit the patients of Baptist Saint Anthony’s Hospice, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
