It is with deep sadness that the family of Fernande Marie Elise (Robichaud) Carpenter, announces her passing on January 2, 2021. With family by her side throughout, Fern's 5 year journey with Alzheimer’s has come to an end at York Care Center. Born May 31, 1941 in Pointe Sapin, NB. She was a daughter of the late Onésieme and Marie-Gertrude (Mazerolle) Robichaud.Fern graduated from Mount St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham, NB as an RNA and worked at the Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton. For many years, she worked in early childhood development from home and local daycares, as well as with home care for seniors. After retirement in 2002, she was equal partners with Miles, in a Program Evaluation Consulting firm for an additional 9 years, where she was instrumental in the success due to her diligence. Fern was always active in her church community, and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for 45 years, holding executive roles such as Treasurer and Faith Development Director. She was a leader in Girl Guides and Scouts Canada and participated with her husband in his Knights of Columbus activities. Among many things, she will be remembered fondly for her generous nature, compassion, and sense of humour. Fern had a passion for flowers and gardening, but her true love was her family and spending time with them (especially her grandsons).
Fernande will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 48 years, Miles Carpenter; their daughter, Michelle Dore (Brent), son, Jamie Carpenter (Jennifer), grandsons; Jake Dore and Riley Dore (Robyn Hall), great granddaughter, Oaklynn Dore, all of the Fredericton area. She is also survived by her brother, Jean-Baptiste Robichaud (Bernice), sisters-in-law; Anne Marie, Rose-Marie, Simonne and many nieces and nephews. She was birth mother to David Woods (Anne), Brenda Hilliard (Jimmy) and Tammy Hendricks. Besides her parents and infant siblings, Marina and Everrett, she was predeceased by her sisters; Yvonne Ida (Vanilda) Babineau (Raymond) and Lydia Daigle (Antoine), brothers; Lionel (Della), Arthur, Everrett, Eloi, Norbert, Elmo, Onésieme Jr. and Hilaire.
A special thank you to the staff of the Transitional Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and to York Care Center for all the care and compassion given to Fern during her stay for the past year.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private service will be held for her immediate family at this time.
