OBITUARY. Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Sunday, December 7, 1941, p1. Man Is Killed, Two are Hurt. One of Injured In Local Crash is Mother of 7. Wayne Green dies Almost Instantly in Accident at Goguac and Twentieth Streets. Conditions are Critical. One man was almost instantly killed and two other persons, a man and a woman, were critically injured at 5:15 p.m. Saturday when the coupe in which they were riding was almost completely demolished in a collision with a dump truck at West Goguac and Twentieth Streets. Wayne (Joseph) Green, 32, of route three, a roofer for the Sheriff-Goslin Roofing , died from internal injuries before help could reach him. Mrs. Evelyn Traister, 28, of 69 Grant, the mother of seven small children, suffered serious head injuries and possibly internal injuries. Cleon Sult, 28, of 1 Avenue B, employed in the shipping department at the Post Products division of General Foods Corp sustained severe head and body injuries. . . .The coupe, driven by Mr. Sult, was going south on Twentieth street and either failed to stop on reaching the intersection with Goguac or stopped and then started up without the driver seeing the truck. The one and a half ton dump truck was going east
on Goguac. The coupe had partially crossed the interesection and was in the east traffic lane on Goguac when it was hit broadside by the truck, turned partially around and hurled against a telephone pole at the southeast corner of the intersection. Force of the impact pushed the right side of the car nearly half way toward the left side. Mr. Green was seated on the right side of the car and suffered the full force of the impact. . .Motorists rushed the two
survivors of the coupe, both unconscious when removed from the wreckage, to Leila hospital . . . The three passengers of the coupe are related, state police were told. Green and Sult are cousins and Mrs. Traister is distantly related to both. Mr. Green has been estranged from his wife, Mrs. Ruth Green, residing at West VanBuren and Hubbard. She survives him as does one son, Harold, by a former marriage, residing in Assyria Center. . . Besides his wife and son, Mr. Green is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Green of

Samis, 71, of Route 3, Cobb Road, died early today in Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Reed City and retired in the mid-1960s from Dewey's Car Palace where he was an auto body repairman for several years. Surviving are his wife, the former Lila Green; daughters, Shirley Martin of Augusta, Bonnie Vicol of Bissett of Delton, and Marla Saulter of Salisbury, Mo.; sons, Dean Samis of Iron River, Lewis of Hastings, Darryl of Wisconsin and Kevin of Delton; 22 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and sisters, Veta Todd and Marie Vaughn, both of Marquette, Rose Baxter of Flint, and Leida Williams of Battle Creek. Services will be Sunday at Williams Funeral Home (Delton).

In 1964 Mrs. John (Audrey) Brown was of Mason Avenue, Battle Creek, according to her father's obituary.

(Green) Brown, 62, of 144 Hussey Avenue was dead on arrival Wednesday afternoon at Leila Hospital where she was taken after being stricken at her residence. She was born in Kalkaska and resided in Battle Creek during her childhood. She later moved to Lansing and returned to Battle Creek in 1943. She was employed by Kellogg and retired in 1974 because of ill health after 25 years of service. She was a member of a TOPS Club and the Kellogg 25-Year Club. Surviving are her husband, John H. Brown; daughters, Mrs. Abie (Elaine) Ackley of 133 Wheeler Ave. and Mrs. Johnny (Lorna) Lane of Crooked Lake, Delton; a son, Norman L. Brown of 43 Pickford Ave.; 15 grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Lorren (Leila) Samis of Iron River. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Farley Funeral Home. Burial in Memorial Park Cem., Battle Creek.

Brown will celebrate his 80th birthday at a party in his honor from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20, at Rolling Hills Clubhouse, 300 E. Morgan Road. Friends are invited to attend. Brown was born Nov. 20, 1914, at a home on Sheffield Road. He was engaged in farming with his father until moving to Lansing in 1934. He worked for General Motors Corp. for 10 years before returning to Battle Creek, where he worked for General Foods Corp. for 33 years, retiring in 1979. He also did landscaping, built several homes and plowed gardens in the spring for more than 50 years. He married the former Audrey Green in 1943. She died in 1977. They had three children.
He married the former Judith Tripp in 1978. The party Sunday is being hosted by his family. They request no gifts.

We are not sure of Cleon's marriage to Ada Budd. Information on her was taken from marriage license of Duane L. Sult dated 14 Nov 1954 which stated his mother was Ada Budd and his father was Cleon Sult.
In 1955 Cleon was of Route 8, Battle Creek, according to his father's obituary.

OBITUARY. Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Saturday, 15 April 1961. Cleon L. Sult, 48, a 25-year employee as a pressman for the Carton and Container Division of the General Foods Corp., died early this morning at his residence, 133 S. 28th St. Although he had suffered from a heart ailment for 18 months, he worked his regular shift yesterday and his death was unexpected. He joined the company March 9, 1936. Mr. Sult was born in Sherman, Mich., and came here as a child with his parents, Everett and Isabelle (Green) Sult. He was married secondly here Dec. 24, 1955 to Mrs. Marie R. Bailey who survives. Also surviving are a son by a previous marriage, Duane L. of 36 W. Pitman Ave.; two granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. William (Evelyn) Hyde of Baltimore, MD, and Mrs. George (Letha) Lassese of Cheverly, Md.; a brother, Kenneth E. of Omaha, Neb.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Bill (Patricia) DeVoll of 59 S. Woodrow Ave., and a step-son, Theron Bailey of Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Sult was president of the Post Sportsmen's Club and a member of the Post 25-Year Club, Moose Lodge No. 326 and the Legion of the Moose. During World War II he saw foreign duty with the Maritime Service.
