Fry Sr., 76, of Battle Creek, died Monday, March 10, 1997 in Lyons Foster Care Home. He was born June 6, 1920, in Battle Creek to Herman F. and Kathryn A. (Carpenter) Fry and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1938 and served in the U.S. Army. He was a valve grinder and tool and die worker at Eaton Corp. for 42 years, retiring in 1982. He also was a meat cutter at Misner Supermarket in Verona. He was married to the former Helen Mae Raymond for 25 years. She died in July 1972. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Fry. Surviving are sons, Ronald L. Fisher of Kalamazoo and Glenn F. Fry Jr.; daughters, Karen L. Harris of Elkhart, Ind., and JoAnne K. Reatsnyder of Battle Creek; 15 grandchildren; and 11 grandchildren (must mean 11 great-grandchildren). Life member and former commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8715. Member of American Legion Post 298 and UAW Local 196. Enjoyed golfing, coaching and umpiring Little League Baseball in Lakeview and bowling. Was an avid basefall fan. Services 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Conner officiating. OBITUARY. Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Saturday, 15 Jul 1972. Mrs. Helen . (Raymond) Fry, 51, of 12504 Perry Road, died Friday in Leila Hospital, where she had been a patient since April. Mrs. Fry was born in Battle Creek and had lived all her life in the area. She had attended local schools and was a member of the Westlake Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, Glenn F.; sons, Ronald Fisher of Kalamazoo, and Glenn F. Fry Jr. of 472 Richland Ave.; daughters, Mrs. Robert (Karen) Johnson of 107 Hanson Drive, and Mrs. Harry (JoAnne) Olian of 102 Mosher Ave.; eight grandchildren; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Raymond of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. R. J. (Marguerite) Heights of Annandale, VA; and a brother, Wayne Raymond of 10 1/2 Mile Road. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Hebble Chapel.
