Bio:
Pamela Lynne McDowell, a beautiful wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on November 9th of 2016, in her home in Sioux Falls, SD with her family at her side. She was 56.Pamela was born May 17th of 1960 in Sioux Falls, SD to Donald and Genevieve (Adams) Carpenter. She graduated from Washington High School in 1978. Following High School she worked at Citi-Bank, prior to becoming a home-maker. For three years she had also owned a business called "Scent by an Angel," where she preserved flowers and small animals. Her small business came to a close after her generosity was too large to handle.
On February 17th of 1979, Pamela became one with Bruce McDowell in Sioux Falls, SD at the First United Methodist Church. She then convinced her husband to purchase the brick fixer upper on 1013 West Fourth Street in 1985, where they had raised their three children.
Pamela was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church. Volunteer work was a huge passion in her life. She volunteered with the South Dakota Air National Guard family support group, Meals on Wheels, the Children's Home Society & the Children's Inn.
Along with her volunteer work, Pamela had many passionate hobbies. These included: Gardening, collecting antiques, collecting old books, creating holiday events for the children, taking photos of her children and flowers, restoring her home, discovering her ancestry, and creating many projects. Pamela was a very crafty soul, she could create a project out of anything and everything. Many of her projects yet to be finished will be done in honor of her.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Bruce; her sons, Dale (Amanda) and Bruce Jr. (Alyssa); her daughter, Miranda (Ben Dingus), Sioux Falls, SD; 4 grandchildren, Hayden, Ethan, Kalynne, and Watson; 5 sisters, Sandy Polzin, Candy Newman (Jim), Karla Newman (Dave), Kim Green (Tom), Sioux Falls, SD, Cheryl Strang (Gary), Hartford, SD; 1 brother, Rod Carpenter (Jane), San Jose, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Genevieve Carpenter (mother), Donald Carpenter (father); 2 brothers, Sylvan (Bud) Carpenter, Ronald Carpenter; 1 sister, Deborah Carpenter; her Grandparents, Ray & Ida Carpenter, Glen & Blanche Adams.
Memorials can be directed to the Children's Home Society or the Children's Inn of Sioux Falls, SD.
Funeral Services will be held 11:30am Monday, November 14th, 2016, at Augustana Lutheran Church, 235 N. Prairie Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. With the visitation held prior to the service at 10:30am of the same day.
