Geneva Eleanore Carpenter, 83, of Marietta, died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.Geneva was born March 17, 1934 in Reno, Ohio to Wesley “Dale” and Mary {McKnight} Bailey.
She was a 1952 graduate of Marietta High School.
She married Clarence D. Carpenter on November 25, 1951.
Geneva was a member of the Little Muskingum Congregational Church and the Betsy Mills Water Club. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, sewing, crocheting and reading.
Geneva will be deeply missed by her children Corlis A. Hunter of Marietta, OH, Clarence “Dan” Carpenter Jr. (friend Sue) of Belpre, OH, Phillip W. (Lori) Carpenter of Mineral Wells, WV, Cheryl A. (Jay) Robertson of Parkersburg, WV; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; a sister Phyllis A. Lowery of Belpre, OH.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband Clarence D. Carpenter Sr.; brothers Raymond D. Bailey, Donald E. Bailey, Denzil D. Bailey; daughter-in-law Becky Carpenter; and two step grandchildren.
Friends may call Monday February 26, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joyce Dye officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.
