CARPENTER—In Sandy Creek June 2 1926 Mrs. Ada Carpenter.Source: Sandy Creek News, July 8, 1926
________________________________________MRS. ADA CARPENTER
We speak of those who have entered the great beyond, as dead. But"Death is another life. We bow our heads,
At going out, we think, and enter straight.
Another golden chamber of the King's,
Larger than, this, and lovelier."Death is to pass through a narrow and dark passage, which terminates in ineffable light, it is the golden key, that opens the door of the celestial palace which is fair, beautiful and glorious.
Mrs. Delos Carpenter entered into the new life Friday morning, July 2, 1926. She was born on a farm near Mexico, May 10,- 1856, being the daughter of E. Galusha and Justina
Sprague Bumpus. Her parents moved to Sandy Creek while she was a child and settled on the farm now owned by Emmett Bumpus, a mile north of the village of Sandy Creek. The parents passed away some twenty-five years ago. She was united in marriage to Delos Carpenter in 1873, who survives her. She is also survived by two brothers, Fred and Emmett Bumpus, both residents of this town. After her marriage, she and her husband superintended for ten years a farm owned by the late Oren R. Earl and later bought a farm in the western part of the town, which they
occupied and improved until they moved into the village twenty-one years ago.Her obsequies were held at her late home Sunday afternoon, July 4. A concourse of mourning friends were in attendance. Rev. T.T. Davies and Rev W.O. Thomas officiating. Interment in the family lot at Woodlawn cemetery. The profusion of flowers bespoke of the esteem and love held for the one departed.
Mrs. Carpenter was a woman of fine and rare qualities. She was loved by a large circle of friends who admired her noble character. She was seen at her best in her own home, a place she made beautiful through her love of the things that enter into the making of a worthy home.
