NOTE: An examination of the marker indicates it was a used stone. The G is surrounded by a circular grinded area indicating something that was removed. See also the word DIED that covers up other marks.
IMHO - the G is NOT incidental to the name. Likely a freemason symbol.

Mrs. Jane Carpenter passed away to the better land April 5th, 1895, at the home of her son H. E. Carpenter in Henderson, N.Y.Mrs. Carpenter was one of a family of ten children born to Job and Lydia Cook, and was born in Dover, Duchess Col, New York, June 8th, 1806, being the last one of the family.
The family moved to Jefferson Co. in 1812, and the subject of this sketch was married to John Carpenter June 9th, 1829, and has always lived on the place where she died, her husband having died June 13th, 1860.There were seven children in the family, five now living,:

No mother was more devoted to her family than she, and no children ever more loving and kind. Often did she refer to the eventfultime in her life when she gave her heart to Christ, which was at the age of eleven years. She received and merited the friendship of all who knew her.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. S. Scriber, who preached from the text found in 2d Timothy, 4 Chapter, 7th and 8th verses.Watertown Re-Union Wed – 17 Apr 1895. [KC: semi-weekly newspaper 1866-1918] Flower Library, Watertown, NY June 2019. Transcribed by K. A, Carpenter

I'm trying to nail down specifics on Benjamin Carpenter the 2nd who is buried in the Galena Cemetery in Delaware County, Ohio. Inscription states birth year as 1793 and death date as 1/28/1875. I'm pretty sure that he's with the Benjamin/Gilbert clan there, but not clear on his parentage, spouse (if any) or any possible children.I forgot to note that there is a Harris W. Carpenter, d. 8/12/1822, also buried in the Galena Cemetery who is listed as a son of Benjamin Carpenter II. I'm curious to know if there is any possible significance to the name Harris, such as a maiden name of a mother or other relative.
