He taught singing school several years befor and after his marriage.  He bought
the earthenware pottery in Middleboro, VT.

15877. Edwin Carpenter

Number 6051 in the Carpenter Memorial.  No Family listed.
He was 21 years of age when he went into the hardware business in Middlebury,
VT.  First he was a clerk and afterwards went into business for himself.  In
the fall f 1849 he was induced to go as a conductor on a frieght train.  He was
on only two weeks and had decided to leave the business, when on a very dark
and stormy night, as he was going to light the lanterns, he slipped and fell
and was killed by the train passing over his body.

BYRON CARPENTER, was born in Washington County, Vt., in 1827. Remained there
until 1851, when he went to Kentucky, and the following year went to
Tennessee, and was employed as teacher in a business college at Memphis,
Tenn. From there went to Bridgeport and taught in Rotherwood Seminary, a
preparatory school for boys, remaining there about four years. In 1858,
emigrated to Iowa, locating at West Liberty, where he followed teaching.
Then went to farming until 1864, when he went to Murfreesboro and took
charge of a plantation, remaining there two years. He then returned to Iowa,
and was farming part of the time, handling farm machinery from 1870 to 1874.
In October, 1880, came to Nebraska and located at Wymore, and is engaged in
real estate brokerage, loan and insurance agency.

It is a question of which brother was the father. Genetically, it does not make a difference. But, no evidence to determine which brother is the correct one for the father.

CHILDREN: It was assumed that several children were born in NH prior to their 1820ish move to OH.  But, the Francis Family Tree indicates otherwise.
