Number 8078 on page 764 in the Carpenter Memorial. No family listed.
She married and resided in Armada, MI.Type: Obituary DEATH OF MRS. EUNICE CARPENTER HULETT
Died, at the residence of Mr. Newton Hulett in Western Armada, Jan. 1, 1892, Mrs. Eunice Carpenter Hulett of paralysis.Deceased was born in Rutland county, Vermont, August 14th, 1808, being at the time of her death 83 years 4 months and 16 days old. She with her husband and family came to Michigan in the spring of 1836 settling on the farm and living on the same place where she died. She was one of the earliest settlers in that neighborhood, and passed through all the trials and hardships pertaining to an early pioneer life.
The deceased went to her daughter's (Mrs. John McCafferty) on Sept. 21, 1891, where she was strickened with disease which so prostrated her for a time as to make her almost helpless and was tenderly cared for by a loving daughter having every want and wish gratified that was possible to have. But as she regained partial consciousness a great desire to get back to her hold home took possession of her, and no friends could quiet the desire to see her old home, so on Tuesday the 29th, of December, she was tenderly brought home and seemed to be quiet contented and happy, going to her bed on Thursday evening feeling as well as usual. But on going to her bed on New Years morn it was to find that the spirit in the quiet and stillness of the night had taken its flight to its Heavenly Father passing away without a struggle and apparently while asleep.
Deceased was a member of the Methodist church, having united with said church at an early day. She was good christian and a fond and loving mother, and died thrusting in the promise of the Saviour. She leaves three sons and one daughter and a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held from the Bruce and Armada church on Sunday, Jan. 3, 1892, Rev. S.E. Warren officiating.

From what I understand Samuel Carpenter (#41863 in the CE CD 2001) was
married 3 times. I believe I am from his wife Sabrina Perkins, but she was
supposed to have a daughter named Elizabeth but I have not proved that. ( I
always look for proof!) It does not look like you have any further info on
him (other wives and children). Thanks for e-mailing me though and I will
keep your e-mail and when I can verify all the info on Samuel I will send you
the info so you can add it to your collection.
Are you interested in a picture I have of Samuel? It is a rather large file
because I scanned it in the best quality possible. Please e-mail me back and
let me know and I will e-mail picture, print & send picture or put it on a
disk and send.
Thanks again... Shawn

some Hovey's too. I am from Samuel's first wife, Sabrina and their daughter,
Eliza. ShawnType: Obituary Oregon Obit
Carpenter, SamuelSamuel Carpenter of Carpenter's Station in this twp. died suddenly at home there Jan. 25, 1888 (another source says died Feb. 1). Had been well-to-do from lumbering business but had reverses and died a poor man. Had lived at Almont, elsewhere. Born Ira Twp., Rutland Co. Vt., April 8, 1814, moved to Mich. 1835 and to Almont 1844. In 1869 moved to Flint and engaged extensively in lumbering business. Member Flint Baptist Church. Here owned 320 acres. In 1872 to Sec. 4, Oregon Twp. and built mill at place bearing his name. Left wife, 3 daus. One place says buried Ferguson Cem. Almont; another buried Mt. Hope in Lapeer.
Type: Obituary Samuel Carpenter, of Carpenter's Station, died suddenly at his home Wednesday morning of heart disease. Mr. Carpenter was a true christian gentleman, generous to a fault, and he would impoverish himself to help a worthy object or a needy friend. He has seen life in its vicissitudes being at one time worth $100,000, but reverses overtook him in his lumbering operations and he died a poor man, but loved and respected by all who knew him, and the world is better on account of his having lived. He was about 74 years.
Type: Obituary Oregon News Item.
We wish to thank friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and funeral of our husband and father, and the Baptist choir of Lapeer for their services at the funeral. -- Mrs. S. Carpenter and family.

Mrs. Eliza Carpenter died Wednesday morning in the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Langshaw of Monterey. She had been confined to her bed ten weeks following a fall which left her perfectly helpless. She was eighty-seven years and six months old and had lived in Monterey thirty-nine years. Eliza Gilman was born in Ripley, Chautauqua county, New York, and moved with her parents to Lake county, Ohio, where she married Daniel Carpenter who died in Oct., 1914. She was the mother of four children, but one of whom survive her. She leaves also seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Carpenter united with the Disciples of Christ in 1858, to which sect she was ever faithful, helping in the support of the gospel and missionary work. The funeral will be held from the home this morning at 10 o'clock. [pg. 6]

Jason Carpenter was born in the township of Ira, Rutland Co., Vt., near the foot of the Green Mountains, May 28, 1820. His father's name was Samuel Carpenter, and his mother's maiden name was Roxalana Newton.... In the fall of 1834, he, with his parents, moved to what was then the far west, Ohio, and settled near Sandusky City. There they lived until April, 1836, when they came to Michigan and located in Armada, Macomb Co., 40 miles north of Detroit. After helping his father to pay for his farm, upon which he lived until his death, Jason, at the age of nineteen years, left the parental roo and embarked upon life's ocean for himself, his strong hope being his sails and his faithful ax serving as a rudder. For some years he drifted with the tide of circumstances until in 1847 he found himself in Grand Rapids where for the time being he cast anchor. Mr. Carpenter still remembers with what astonishment the natives witnesses his dexterity with his ax. In 1850 he was married to Miss Larissa A. Loomis, the faithful partner of his life to this time. She was born at Independence, Alleghany Co., N.Y., in 1825. Her Parents were Andrew and Laura S. (Clark) Loomis. When she was yet a babe her parents moved to Exeter, Uizerne Co., Pa., where they remained until 1839, when they came to Walled Lake, Oakland Co., Mich. There they lived two and a half years, then removed to the town of Walker, Kent Co., about seven miles north of Grand Rapids. There she lived with her parents until her marriage with Mr. Carpenter in 1850, coming with him to Oceana Co. in 1857. Since then she was failthfully borne her share of the fatigues and difficulties of pioneer life. In june, 1857, Mr. Carpenter with his wife, came to Oceana Co., locating in Clay Banks. .........Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter have had a family of two sons and three daughters........Michigan Marriages 1868-1925:

Hi John. Just got this e-mail and thought I would also pass it on to you.
Maybe we will get our Michigan CARPENTERs together yet.
Do you have anything on this Mariah Abigail CARPENTER?
Keep in touch! Anita.
>>>>Dear Anita, I was excited to find your Samuel Carpenter from Ira,
Ruthland, Vt. I have a Samuel Carpenter, son of Joseph
Carpenter, son of Benjamin Carpenter. I don't have dates or places
on Samuel, Father Joseph, Grand father Benjamin. I have a
daughter of Samuel Carpenter who was Mariah Abigail Carpenter
born 4 Nov. 1827, in Ira, Rutland, Vermont.
She married Samuel Erastus Moore the 28 Aug. 1843 in Berlin, St
Clair, Michigan. They with their families moved to Chelatchie Prairie,
Clark, Washington. I have found Mariah Abigail Carpenter's
marriage to Erastus Moore ( it looks like Mores) but right names,
right place, right time, Samuel Erastus Moore did go by Erastus at
that time as I've found property in Erastus Samuel Moore. I also
found both families on the 1850 Census in St Clair Co, Berlin township,
Michigan.
If you can make any connection I would be very grateful and willing to
share anything I have on that family line that you may want.
Looking forward to hearing from you whether or not we tie. Veris Moore
