Died in Childhood.

25993. Wilbur Carpenter

Wilbur l881-1958 - born in Wisconsin.  Married Laura McHugh1890-1960
His father would have been 45 years old at the time of his birth.  I remember Wilbur vaguely.  He had a very large family and lived near Omro and Eureka, WI.  He had 17 children, two of them infants who did not survive.  They were born between 1907 and l937.  These children sponsor a Carpenter reunion at Omro every year.  My brother and I have attended several times.

15632. David Heavener Carpenter

DAVID HEAVENER CARPENTER 1839-1906
Married Mary Kay (Karry) 1835-1909.
David enlisted in the Army. He was in the Co. C. 141 Regt. Pen. Vol.Infantry. Af ter an injury to his forefinger (they say it was kicked by a mule) he was put in the reserves to guard the capitol. He met and married Mary Kay in Washington and lived there until 1868 when her health forced them to a cooler. climate, so they also came to Eureka, Wisc. Their son, Robert , was born there on the old Homestead in 1868. Thev moved to the Town of Maine, Outagamie County in 1879 and bought 40 acresf or $200. David died there at the age of 57. His only son married his cousin, Allie Carpenter, Albert's daughter.

15634. Jeremiah or Jermiah Carpenter

Jerry was born in Sullivan County, NY, but it looks like he did not stay there long for his family moved a lot.  Jerry enlisted in the Civil war in September 1864, a week later than his brother, and got $ 1,000 bounty money for joining. He was a private in Co. C, 1st NY Cavalry. He was discharged from Camp Pratt, West Virginia, on June 8, 1865.

On Dec 31 1865, he married Eliza Johnson in the Protestant Episcopal Church in Buffalo, Erie County,
NY.  Jerry remained in Pennsylvania near Litchfield Township, Bradford County. Three of their children were born there: Rose, who died there, Ellie, and Minnie (Malinda). They moved to Wisconsin and bought 50 acres of land from his father, Gabriel, for $700 in Sept., 1868. His brother Albert Bought land at the same time. His daughter Minnie, was born there near Eureka in the town of Rushford,( and died there a year and a  half later in 1869, and is buried there on a lot of Ira Carpenter her uncle.)

Jerry sold some of his property to his brother, Albert in Dec. 1873. He moved to the town of Maine,
Outagamie County, where on March 28 1880, he purchased an 80 acre farm from Ephrum Golf of
Appleton for $ 275. The farm adjoined his brothers, David H. Their remaining children were born there:
Stella, Georgia, Willie , and Clarence. Only Georgia and Stella lived beyond infancy.
When Jerry died the mud was so deep they had to take him to the cemetery in a horse drawn lumber
