Adelbert Carpenter, whose death occurred in Seattle Saturday, was a former
well-known Minneapolitan.
Mr. Carpenter was born near Syracuse, N. Y., Aug. 20, 1841, where he lived on
a farm until the civil war. He enlisted in Troop G, Twelfth New York cavalry.
At the close of the war he engaged in the manufacturing business in Syracuse
until 1889, when he moved to Minneapolis and was prominent in the up-building of
the Monitor Manufacturing company at St. Louis Park. He retired from business
two years ago and moved to Seattle on account of poor health.
Mr. Carpenter was a man who lived mostly within the confines of his business
and his family, but those who were intimately acquainted with him learned to
respect him for his sterling qualities, both in business and private life. He
was a member of Rawlins post, G. A. R., of this city.The Minneapolis Journal October 15, 1906
