CYNTHIA being interred there. The caretaker told C.L. Carpenter (compiler of
the T. Carpenter book) that in years past a wagon load of gravestones had been
carted off to construct a private home walk. This cemetery was in a state of
being restored. Some stones were covered with sod, but the above compiler
tried to uncover those in the vincinity of the OLIVER CARPENTER burial site.
There were numerous stones piled in the corners along the edge of the cemetery.

Surnames: CARPENTER, GREEN
In the name of God, Amen.
I, Timothy Carpenter of the Town of Harmony, County of Chautauqua, and state of New York, being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say:
First---after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give and bequeath to my wife Sally B. Carpenter during her natural life, the use of the part of my house that I live in now as described(to wit) consisting of the upright and the room west of it used by me now for a kitchen with a bedroom west and a butry south of the kitchen. It is my will for my wife to have the use of my farm and all my personal property if it should require so much for her support. After her death if she should survive me, it is to be equally divided between my three children, providing my son William P. Carpenter pays a note that we gave together to ?????. If he fails to pay it, it must come from his portion with annual interest. It is further my will that Samuel Green shall manage the property, have full power to let the farm and to manage the personal property as a prudent farmer should and to let my wife have as much of the proceeds as is necessary for her support. Likewise I make, constitute and appoint Samuel J. Green of Harmony Chautauqua County and State of New York to be executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the Twenty-fifth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight.Signed
Timothy CarpenterThe above written instrument was subscribed by the said Timothy Carpenter in our presence, and acknowledged by him to each of us: and he at the same time declared the above instrument, so subscribed to be his last Will and Testament: and we, at his request, have signed our names as witnesses hereto, in his presence and in the presence of each other, and written opposite our names our respective places of residence.

The name mentioned in the will as being owed money by William Carpenter was not readable. It appears to be Jane with the last name unknown. I am not sure. The will was found among some family papers.CENSUS: 1860 US Census - see image: RIN 0049 Daniel B Carpenter 1860.jpg
On same page as Daniel B. Carpenter.
William and members of his family are mentioned in various census records of
Panama, beginning in 1860. In the 1860 census is listed an uncle, James Purdy,
age 80. The 1865 census mentions children not given in the previous census.
Number 244-4 in the Timothy Carpenter book.
Fidelia is sometimes recorded as "Pidelia". In the letters of administration
of her mother's estate, dated March 10, 1886, it is spelled with an "F".
A letter of Fidelia's mother to Fideli's brother Isaac (250) on May 28, 1876
states Fidelia was then bedridden and residing at Broken Straw, NY.
