Robert “Bob” Forrest Hovey, 72, of Albany, IL, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society, Prophetstown, IL. Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.Bob was born October 24, 1944 in Clinton, IA, the son of Forrest and Loretta (Kennedy) Hovey. He graduated from Erie High School in 1962. On July 18, 1964 he married the love of his life, Jeanne Carpenter, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton, IL. Bob worked at Case IH for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He also farmed on the side. After retirement, he sold real estate and delivered papers for the Dispatch. Bob, “Mr. Fix-it” was a natural mechanic; he could fix anything.
Bob enjoyed going to fairs and tractor pulls. He had a good sense of humor, was easy going, soft spoken, genuine, and a hard worker. He enjoyed helping others. Bob loved his cat, Chester, and dog, Karma. He especially loved his 2 grandsons, who always brought out his smile when they visited him.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanne; sons, John Hovey, Berwick, IL, Jim Hovey, Albany, Joe (Sandy) Hovey, Erie; daughter, Jennifer Hovey, Morrison; grandsons, Noah Hovey and Boston Howard; siblings, Gary (Becky) Hovey, Albany, Mary (Rick) Lohman, Eldridge, IA, Gloria (Wilbur) Stubbs, Erie, and Mike (Jane) Hovey, Prophetstown. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Judith in infancy.

Emma H. Carpenter, 89, of Morrison, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2020.
A private family visitation and funeral will be held at Bosma Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison. Interment will be held at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison.
Emma was born April 24, 1931 at home, to August and Augusta Dhaemers.
She was educated in rural Henry County schools. On May 24, 1958 she married Robert Carpenter who died May 8, 1992. She was a homemaker. Emma enjoyed feeding bread to her birds and squirrels, sewing, growing flowers and working in her yard. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her best friend and daughter, Sally, her grandkids and great-grandkids and her special dog, Kyara.
Survivors include one daughter, Sally (Tom) Kennedy; five grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Houzenga, Corey (Ashley) Kennedy, Jeffery Shepard Jr., Jacob Shepard and Megan Shepard and six great-grandchildren, Caleb and Dylan Houzenga, Anna and Willard Kennedy, Willow Shepard and Marlee Stone.

Mary Sue CarpenterBELLS - Mary Sue Carpenter, 77, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ.
Sue was born May 23, 1936 in Crowell, the daughter of Cleo and Doyle Parks. She attended schools in Corpus Christi and Dallas. While living in Big Spring, she met the love of her life, Wayne Carpenter. They married on July 20, 1957, and were together for 49 years until his death in 2006. She retired from General Electric in Morrison, Ill. Sue loved to garden and was an avid bird watcher. She also loved to play bingo and rarely missed a Saturday session at VFW Post 2773 in Denison. Sue will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sue is survived by her beloved family, son, Stanley Carpenter and wife Diane of Bells; grandsons, Stanley Carpenter Jr and wife Jennifer of Cordova, Ill., Jason Carpenter and fiancé, Heather of Elizabeth, Ill.; granddaughter, Sara Carpenter of Bells; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Alexandra of Cordova, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; their son, David Carpenter; and sister, Jan Chamberlan.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery with Chaplain Mike Hermanson officiating. Family visitation will be held from 6 -7 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at Fisher Funeral Home.

Memorial services for Craig T. Carpenter, 47, of Eldridge, IA will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the mortuary.
As was his wish, cremation rites have been accorded.
Mr. Carpenter died on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Craig Thomas Carpenter was born on August 5, 1963 in Davenport, IA, the son of Carmen and Judith (May) Carpenter. He was a graduate of Bettendorf High School and went on to attend the University of Iowa and to graduate from St. Ambrose University with a dual degree in Business and Economics.
On October 19, 1985, he married Pamela Pottebaum in Davenport with whom he spent 21 years and had two beautiful children: Kerri and Alex.
On July 4, 2009, he married Barbra Lou Borchers in Reno, NV and became a step-father to Gary and Rachel Fahrenkrug.
For almost 20 years, he owned and operated a wholesale Bingo supply company specializing in charitable foundations and fundraising. He was always very generous and believed in giving back to the community.
Craig was a member of the Masons, the Mohassen Grotto, the Rock Island Eagles Club, and, the Rock Island Loyal Order of The Moose. He loved to golf, was an avid Hawkeye fan, loved the Cardinals, and always enjoyed a good joke. He most especially enjoyed spending time with his children, family, and friends.
Survivors include – his Wife: Barbra Carpenter of Eldridge; 2 Children: Kerri Carpenter and Alex Carpenter both of Bettendorf; 2 Step-Children: Rachel Fahrenkrug of Eldridge and Gary Fahrenkrug of Bettendorf; his Parents: Carmen and Judith Carpenter of Bettendorf; and his 2 Brothers: Christopher Carpenter and Steven Carpenter both of Bettendorf.
He is preceded in death by his Grandparents: Joyce and Orville Stout, Alice and Euwell Carpenter, and Earl May.

On July 4, 2009, he married Barbra Lou Borchers in Reno, NV and became a step-father to Gary and Rachel Fahrenkrug. For almost 20 years, he owned and operated a wholesale Bingo supply company specializing in charitable foundations and fundraising. He was always very generous and believed in giving back to the community.Craig was a member of the Masons, the Mohassen Grotto, the Rock Island Eagles Club, and, the Rock Island Loyal Order of The Moose. He loved to golf, was an avid Hawkeye fan, loved the Cardinals, and always enjoyed a good joke. He most especially enjoyed spending time with his children, family, and friends.Survivors include – his Wife: Barbra Carpenter of Eldridge; 2 Children: Kerri Carpenter and Alex Carpenter both of Bettendorf; 2 Step-Children: Rachel Fahrenkrug of Eldridge and Gary Fahrenkrug of Bettendorf; his Parents: Carmen and Judith Carpenter of Bettendorf; and his 2 Brothers: Christopher Carpenter and Steven Carpenter both of Bettendorf.He is preceded in death by his Grandparents: Joyce and Orville Stout, Alice and Euwell Carpenter, and Earl May.Memorials may be made to the family.

Gretna………Debbie Tuttle, age 57 of Gretna died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at University of Virginia Medical Center.
Born June 28, 1959 in Miami, FL she was a daughter of the late Clyde Arnold Dowd and Rhea Evelyn Bright Dowd. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Keith Tuttle, Jr. Mrs. Tuttle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gretna Branch. She enjoyed knitting, watching TV, playing Bingo and other games.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald Keith Tuttle, III of Carlsbad, NM and Christian Edward Tuttle of Gretna; one daughter, Wendi Sutton of Alabama; and two brothers, Michael Dowd of FL and David Dowd of FL.
Memorial services will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gretna Branch.
