CARPENTER HELEN WEYBURN
Helen Carpenter Age 94, of Appleridge at Bethany Village in Horseheads, NY, died June 18, 2006 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Helen was born July 29, 1911 in DeKalb, IL, daughter of John Manning and Edith Wilcox Carpenter.
She was a graduate of the Southside High School, Class of 1931, the Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1938, and received her B.S. Degree in Nursing from DePaul University, Chicago, IL, in 1957.
Helen retired from the Illinois State Department of Mental Health in Elgin, IL, in June of 1973, where she had held the position of Nursing Administrator. She then moved to Cherokee Village, AK, where she resided for 21 years.
Helen returned to Elmira in May of 1994 following an absence of 54 years.
She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Elmira. Surviving Helen are a niece, Helen Petoski of Florida; and a nephew, Thad Carpenter of Sun City, AZ; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Robert H. Weyburn, March 19, 1989.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Monday, June 26, 2006, at Appleridge at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Lee Love officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery.
