Bio: MRS. HENRY MYERS DIED SUDDENLY LAST THURSDAYResidents of Springview and community were shocked by the sudden death of Mrs. Henry Myers last Thursday morning. She had been in ill health for a few days, but her condition was not thought serious until she complained of much pain Wednesday night and Thursday morning. About noon she collapsed and passed away a few minutes later. It was thought she suffered a stroke which affected her heart. Mrs. Meyers was constant worked in the Methodist Church and was president of the ladies aid. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and relatives.
Marietta Carpenter was born March 14, 1868, in Marsheltown, Illinois, and departed this life September 28, 1933, at 11:50 a.m. at her home in Springview, Nebraska at the age of 65 years, 4 months and 14 days.
She moved with her parents to Missouri when a small girl, later from there to Polk County, Nebraska. Some years later they moved to Keya Paha County where she was united in holy matrimony to Henry Myers, also of Keya Paha County, on June 20, 1888, and where they have lived since with the exception of a few years in Iowa and Missouri. To this union 10 children were born: Ethel May and Arnold having preceded their mother in death in infancy. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Henry Myers of Springview; Mrs. A.M. Carlson of Bassett, Nebraska, Ileff Myers of Belvedere, South Dakota; Villah Myers of Aladdin, Wyoming; Mrs. L.B. Wakefield of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; Mrs. Jesse Hoyt of Naper, Nebraska; Mrs. Purl Mock of Mission, South Dakota, Mrs. Wm. Howell of Springview; Mrs. John Akers living at home with the parents in Springview, all of whom were present at the funeral. Also her father, Wm. J. Carpenter of Dayton, Oregon, five brothers and three sisters: O.E. Carpenter of Nampa, Idaho; Othie Gardener of Portland, Oregon; O.W. Carpenter of of Portland, Oregon; Oxyth Carpenter of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Cal Robison of Oregon; J.B. Carpenter of Washington; E.B. Carpenter of Portland, Oregon; H.C. Carpenter of California, sixteen grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was baptized and united with the Methodist Church soon after her marriage and has been a faithful member since, always willing to do her part in any church work.
Funeral services were held from the the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. O.B. Williams, and interment made in the Wewela Cemetery.

Henry Myers was born in Middlebrook, Augusta County, Virginia on May 1, 1855, and departed this life at Springview, Nebraska on Wednesday, June 18, 1935, at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 19 days. He grew to manhood and secured his education in the public school at Middlebrook. He started west, first living in Illinois, then coming to Henry County, Iowa where he was united in marriage to Lille Belle Chrisinger on November 23, 1881. To this union one son, Arval, was born.He came with his family to Keya Paha County, Nebraska in the year 1885, and settled on a homestead 16 miles northwest of Springview. His wife died on May 2, 1887. He was later united in marriage to Marietta D. Carpenter on June 20, 1888. To this union ten children were born. Two, Ethel May and Arnold, died in infancy. The family moved to College Springs, Iowa in 1893 where he worked at the carpenter trade for several years. Later he moved to Tarkio, Missouri where he worked in a plow factory for several years.
He came back to Keya Paha County in 1908 and lived on a tree claim 14 miles northwest of Springview where he lived until 1925 when he moved to Springview and where, on September 28, 1933, his wife died. He remained in his home in Springview with his youngest daughter, Mrs. John Akers, up until his death.
He was converted in early life and first united with the Presbyterian Church, later transferring to the Methodist Church of which church he remained a faithful member. He has been a faithful follower of Christ from early manhood and remained a faithful Christian always willing to do his part in any church work and died in the triumphs of the Christian faith.
He leaves to mourn his death six daughters and three sons as follows: Arval L. Myers of Grants Pass, Oregon; Julia L. Carlson of Bassett, Nebraska; Ileff E. Myers, Villah I. Myers and Mrs. Alta Wakefield all of Aladdin, Wyoming; Mrs. Zada A. Hoyt of Naper, Nebraska, Mrs. Rena Mock of Mission, South Dakota; Mrs. Freda Howell and Mrs. Leah Akers of Springview, Nebraska; also three brothers, John Myers of Springview, Nebraska; Wilford Myers of Cleveland, Ohio, and Charlie Myers of Winner, South Dakota besides twenty-two grandchildren and one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held from the M.E. Church in Springview, conducted by Rev. O.E. Richardson of Bassett and interment was made in the Enterprise Cemetery.

The body will be shipped to Meridian, Idaho, his former home for burial Dr. D. H. Leech will officiate at the services. Mr. Gardiner Is survived by his widow, two sons, two daughters. The sons are Lewis and George Gardiner of Albany, Mrs. Carl Luhrkoop, Portland and Josephine Gardiner of Albany are the daughters. Miss Edith Gardiner of Albany is a sister, and Mrs. P. G. Bradway of Eugene Is also a sister. Three brothers also survive.

He was ill for 10 weeks. No arrangements have been made for the funeral but it is supposed that the burial will take place in the family plot in the Meridian cemetery.
