Subject: william Carpenter Descent
Hi my name is Star Culver Makenzie.  I am I believe 13th maybe wrong on
generation but 13th generation direct descent of William  Carpenter who
sailed from England in 1638, landing in Weymouth, Mass.  I live across the
road from what was the original Homestead of Benjamin Carpenter which he
built in 1804.  Benjamin was a patriot and raised a company for the colonial
army.  IN 1773he married Mary Pugsley and there were eight children from
this marriage.    The Tories who were stationed in Washington Hollow gave
him a lot of trouble, they robbed him several times.  Once the robbed him of
his prize possession which was Capt. John Carpenter's Sword which was dated
1660's.  Benjamin  decided not to live under constant attacks.  with two
other purchases he bought  "Carpenter Hill" from John Miller.  I live  on
Carpenter Hill today.  I wish I could say that we were able to keep the farm
but we had to sell 15 years ago the only thing that is still in the family
are two houses that were built in the sixties.  The land is the only the
thing that is the same.  We also have a cemetary full of the carpenter
ancestors and a memorial.  Benjamin, himself was the sixth direct descent of
William  carpenter.  Benjamin was born 1749-1837  Morgan Capenter
1795-1871was one of benjamin sons.  He married Mary Bockee in1819. Isaac
Smith Carpenter was Morgans son 1828-1898.  He married twice the first wife
was Julia wilson in 1851.  three children.  The Sencind wife of Isaac was
after Julia died and he married julia's sister Sarah REbecca and had three
children as well.Isaac's son Morgan Carpenter1854-1902 married Virginia
Barlett1876.they had two children maria Virgina and Miriam barlett.  Maria
virginia married my greatgrand father  Arthur Culver.Arthur and Maria had
three children.  My granfather was Morgan Carpenter Culver Sr.  he married
Della Azella Brooks.  THey had Six children, ONE My father Morgan Carpenter
Culver Jr.  he married my mother Sarah Elizabeth Lougheed.  I have two
brothers and I have two children.  They would I belive be the 14th genration
of direct desecents to William Carpenter.   I know I left blanks and I have
questions any help would be appecrtaited.

REPLY:
Dear Carol,
The data on Maria Virginia CARPENTER-19350 who was born on 12 Jun 1883 in , Dutchess (county), NY comes from the Carpenter Memorial by Amos B. Carpenter in 1898.  She is Number 6593 on page 648.  No spouse or family listed.
See the attached 15 generation report on what I have on this line (descendants and ancestry of MVC.
Dutchess county is the orginal county created in 1683.
Delaware county was created from parts of Ulster and Otsego counties in 1797.
Ulster and Greene counties separate them.
I have Dutchess county and not Delaware county in my records.
I hope this data helps.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carpenter_Mesa
Carpenter Mesa is located at 352047N 1035215W in San Miguel County, New Mexico,  northeast of Tucumcari. The origin of the name is not certain, but might have originated from Henry Carpenter, who operated a large ranch in the Juan Tomás area of Bernalillo County, New Mexico, in the 1880s. In 1880 Frank Carpenter, born ca. 1856 in California, was enumerated in San Miguel County as a "cattle raiser", with wife Victoria. A topographic map shows Carpenter Mesa along the north bank of the Canadian River where it flows parallel to Highway 104.
