Cortland- Jay S. Carpenter, 70, died at his home, 14 Woodruff st. He was born Feb. 14, 1875,
at Harford, the son of Stephen H. and Amada Adamy Carpenter. He had resided in Cortland for 45
years and was secretary of the local carpenter's union at the timeof his death. HE was a member of
the First Baprist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Jennie L. Barnes Carpenter; a daughter, Mrs. William Manning of
Pittsburgh, Pa., a sister, Mrs. Lucy McAllister of Penn Yan; two brothers, Archie Carpenter of

"Artie L. Carpenter, 80, a foraier resident of Apulia Sation and Killawog died in Binghamton early
Sunday after a longillness.
A native of Virgil he was bom on March 19, 1879, the son of Steven and Etta Amanda Adamy
Carpenter.
He was an auto mechanic and proprietor of the Killawog and Apulia Station garage.
Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. Dorotha Warwick of Syracuse; two sons Howard Carpenter of
Cortland and Henry of Mattydale; a twin brother Archie Capenter of Dryden; 12 grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at the Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev.
Robert Meyer, pastor of the Dryden Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Interment will be in Willow Glen Cemetery.
Friends may call at the fural home today from 7 to 9 p.m."

sympathy to the sorrowing friends. The flowers were many and beautiful. Relatives and friends
were present from Syracuse, Dryden, Cortland and other places.
Surviving relatives of the Immediate family Include her husband, and an aged mother at the home
In this place; one daughter of Syracuse: one son Howard of Cortland: and a son Henry of this
place, but lately working at McGraw.
