Subject: Carpenter family geneology information
Dear "cousin" John, I am writing because I notice that the information you have for my line of the Carpenter family ends with my great-grandmother (in the 8th generation), Alice May Carpenter #17467. I also notice it says she married Arthur H. but there is no surname. Perhaps that's why there is no further information - because there was no surname to follow? OR do all of the lines end with the female relatives? (Perhaps I should go back and see.) Anyway, my great-grandfather's name was Arthur Henri Bishel. Their only child was Sherman Carpenter Bishel, my grandfather. Sherman had three children, the oldest being my mother.
By the way, my mother has a good photograph of Alice Ann West Carpenter (Alice May's mother) from late in her life. I hope someday to be able to post it on Ancestry.com I thank you for all the work that went into putting this together on the web page. If you would like any more

R. Vernon Carpenter, 75, and his wife, Ruth F. Carpenter, 73, residents of Little America in the town of Orwell, died of natural causes Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Watertown. Mr. Carpenter, who was stricken in a bank parking lot in Pulaski Tuesday, died at 6:21 a.m. His wife, who had been a patient in the hospital since Nov. 3, died 19 minutes later.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Orwell and was educated in Orwell schools. He married Ruth F. Reagan in Solvay on Jan. 10, 1930. He resided in North Syracuse for many years and worked as a foreman in the stock area at Allied Chemical Co.'s Solvay plant. He retired in 1965 after 31 years of service and moved to Little America. He was a former member of Orwell Union Church and later joined the First Baptist Church of Syracuse.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Vernetta Clifford of Richland RD i, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Syracuse and attended Syracuse schools. She had worked in Syracuse for many years as an
operator for New York Telephone Co. Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Services for the couple will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, the Rev. Virgil Hager, pastor of
Sandy Creek Baptist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Friday.

She is survived by her husbadn, a patient at the Brown Nursing Home, Adams Center; a daughter, Mrs. Howard Simpson, Adams Center; a son, Rex Eastman, North Bay; and a brother, Ralph Carpenter, Beaumont, Tex.
