Ruth Carpenter McGonigle, 94, passed away April 5, 2004, in Little Egg Harbor, N.J. A longtime Nazareth resident, she was born in Kingston and was a daughter of the late E. Joel and Ruth (Sahm) Carpenter. She was the wife of the late John W. McGonigle.
A graduate of Ursinus College, Collegeville, she taught Latin and German for Nazarus High School for more than 20 years. She also was the junior and senior high school foreign language department head and advisor to the schools National Honors Society. She was a member of the Nazareth Moravian Church for many years and a teacher and superintendent of its primary department. She was a member of the Moravian Historical Society and a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. A member of Great Valley Girl Scout Council, she was a troop leader, camp counselor and new leaders trainer.
Survivors: Daughters, Ruth Faust in New Jersey, Sally Guaraldo and her husband Joseph in Maine; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nephews, niece. She was predeceased by two sisters, two brothers and a grandson.
Services: graveside, 2 p.m. April 17, Nazareth Moravian Cemetery. Arrangements, Maxwell Funeral Home, Little Egg Harbor.

Gilbert W Carpenter, 300 Wright Avenue, Kingston, died in General Hospital yesterday following a major operation.
Mr Carpenter was born in Port Huron. Mich, December 29, 1913, the son of Mr and Mrs Gilbert N Carpenter, now of Harveys Lake.
Mr Carpenter resided in Kingston most of his life. He attended Kingston Borough schools and was well known in the field of electronics. He was active in ham radio operations in this area, using the call letters K31BJ.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Kingston, president of Kingston Auxiliary Police Association, a director of Kingston Rotary Club and an inspector of election in Sixth Ward.
Surviving besides his parents are his widow, the former Helen M Hummer, Larksville; son, Robert, with the Navy in Jacksonville, Fla; daughters, Beth and Helen Claire at home; sisters, Mrs Mary C Krauss, Newark, and Mrs Margaret C Mitchell, Syracuse.
Funeral will be held from the funeral home, 717 Main Street, Edwardsville, Monday at 2. Rev Lyle E Scott will officiate. Interment in Kocher Cemetery, Lake Township. Friends may call Saturday and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 10.
