LAURA G. CARPENTER

A graveside inurnment service for Laura G. Carpenter of Gaston will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Forest View Cemetery in Forest Grove. She died in a Yuma, Ariz., hospital Feb. 8 of causes related to age. She was 82.

Mrs. Carpenter, whose maiden name was Evanson, was born July 22, 1909, in Bigfork, Mont. Following her marriage in 1929 to Arthur Carpenter, they lived in Polson, Mont., and then moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1939. They moved to Gaston in 1969. Mrs. Carpenter and her husband spent their winters in Yuma.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Her husband died in 1980. Surviving are daughters, Donna Downing of Palmer, Alaska, and Betty Lou Tilman of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Helen Baker of Plains, Mont.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Elizabeth Carpenter, 78, resident of the Gardenspot area of Deer Park, Washington, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015.  She was born on September 11, 1937, at Pablo, Lake County, Montana, a daughter of Carl and Grace Carpenter.

After graduating in 1955 she worked as a nurse's aid in Polson, Montana, for twenty-four years. She attended the Baptist Bible School in Omaha, Nebraska for two years and returned to Montana for a short time. She then returned to the Bible College where she was a bookkeeper for over twenty years.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, a younger brother, Carl Franklin Carpenter, and a niece, Barbara. She is survived by her sisters Clara Horstman of Hayden, Idaho, and Maye Carpenter of Deer Park, and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service honoring Miss Carpenter will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the Deer Park Nazarene Church located at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Margaret Street. Interment will be at the Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park, Washington, is in charge of arrangements.

Beatrice Lenore Carpenter (Isa Kimberly, Rosannah Isabel, Ebener Jordan, Daniel Trundy) was born 23 September 1889 at Gaylord, Ostego County, Michigan.  She married #1 Dummy Maxson, #2 Roy Cullies Matthews on 13 June 1914 the son of William Herbert Matthews and Katie Yates.  #3 Edwin Hansuld in 1928.  Beatrice divorced Edwin Hansuld after 17 years and married her old fling #4 Leslie Hunt.  Beatrice died 1964 at Gladstone, Delta County, Michigan as Mrs Leslie Hunt and is buried next to him in the Fernwood Cemetery, 3108 South Hill Road, Gladstone, Delta County, Michigan.  Leslie had died 1949-50 in Detroit, Michigan.

Note: Leslie Hunt had a bad heart, early in the morning Beatrice found him dead on the front sidewalk, he had carried a 50lb bag of cement up from the basement to repair a corner of the walk.  Edwin Hansuld is remembered "as a wonderful man, and step-father" by Beatrice Roberts "January 2002". He was Canadian born, his family lived around the Ontario area.

Mears Edward Carpenter (Isa Kimberly, Rosannah Isabel, Ebenezer Jordan, Daniel Trundy) was born 24 March 1898 at Gaylord, Ostego County, Michigan.  He married Edna Agnas Ekman McCollum the daughter of Lars Theodor Lewis Ekman and Effie Bassett, the now divorced wife of James "Jim" Archibald McCollum on 20 August 1928 at Hamilton, Ravalli County, Montana.  Edna was born 26 February 1888 at Seely, Minnesota and died 23 March 1977 at Vancouver, Clark County, Washington.  Mears Died 26 June 1955 at Vancouver, Clark County, Washington.

Note: Mears and Edna Carpenter are buried in the Willamette National Cemetery at Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon.  Section H, Grave #1743 and #1744, 2 rows in from street (Mall Drive North) between coordinate marker #4 and #5.
