Etta accidently spilled kerosene on herself, it caught fire, and she died from the burns.

James Bird is my grandfather. His only son and the youngest of his children is my
father: Jesse James 1893-1976. I have pictures of these people. James Bird lived in
Buffalo, N.Y. and worked in a stove factory. He loved to swim out to the ships and dive
off the masts, evidently an adventurer. He came to Wisconsin, and settled in the town
of Maine, near Shiocton. His wife's name was Elizabeth Jewel.
