Charity Cuatt Carpenter
Birth: May 11, 1806 ----> 59 years and 1 month old = about 11 May 1806
Westchester County
New York, USA
Death: Jun. 11, 1865
Charity is the daughter of Michael Cuatt and Betsey Bates. In 1819, she moved with her family from Westchester County, NY to Groton, Tompkins, NY. At around 1825, Charity and her husband Theodore (Theodorus) Carpenter moved to Bingham Township,Potter, PA. At the time they arrived, the area was a dense wilderness. They cleared a farm in the forest and built the first frame home, which they lived in for the rest of their lives. A son born in 1826 was the first white male born in the area. They had 5 sons and 7 daughters. Family history says she is buried here in this cemetery.
