Per the Find a Grave obit he died aty Hear Court hospital on 14 Oct 1918.
The 88th Infantry division headquarters indicates that they were at
Alontreaux Chateau, Haute-Alsace on 15 October 1918.
And the American Forces used French maps or copies there of.
And places once were in German and after World War I they took French names. And some were modified or adapted over the next century of so.
And Americans often buthered the French place names.
Alsace has been traded back and forth between Germany and France 5 times until France retook it in 1919.
It was called "Upper Alsace" aka southern Alsace since rivers flow northward in this region. Today is is know as the Haut-Rhin Department of the Grand Est region of France. It borders Germany.
Alontreaux Chateau or Alontreauz Castle or Fort maybe a non-fortified place no longer. We find no mention of such Chauteau on line.WIKIPEDIA:
Haut-Rhin is the smaller and less populated of the two departments of the former administrative Alsace region, the other being the Bas-Rhin (Lower Rhine). Especially after the 1871 cession of the southern territory known since 1922 as Territoire de Belfort, although it is still densely populated compared to the rest of metropolitan France.

The following provides information that is related.
The 88th Division was a National Army Division that was created late in the war on September 4, 1917, with men coming from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Later a majority of men were from Missouri or Nebraska. Training largely took place at Camp Dodge, Iowa. During the time period between July 25, 1918, and September 4, 1918, the division moved to France. The first few weeks in France the division was trained for open warfare as part of the First Army, 6th American Corps. The 88th Division's first major assignment was to relieve the 29th American Division at the Haute-Alsace Sector, so that they could take part in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. When the 88th Division left the area on September 14, 1918, they were transferred to the 7th American Army Corps. From September 23, 1918, to November 1, 1918, the 88th Division held the Center Sector of Haute-Alsace. At times they held the line by themselves, at other times they had help from French troops. From September 20, 1918, to October 12, 1918, the division suffered from an epidemic of influenza and pneumonia, resulting in 444 deaths.
MORE:
Whittlesey's voyage to France is described in some detail. On August 15, 1918, he boarded HMHS Plassy, which was originally a hospital ship. HMHS Plassy took Whittlesey to Liverpool, England, where he landed on August 28, 1918. From Liverpool he took a train to Southampton where he boarded USS Yale and crossed the channel for France on September 1, 1918.
...
Whittlesey did also write about a short period where he suffered from pneumonia.

September 23, 1918, to November 1, 1918 On September 23„ 1918, advanced elements of the 88th Division moved into the Center Sector of Haute-Alsace, which was being temporarily held by the 38th French Division that had relieved the 29th American Division. These advanced elements, totaling eight officers and four hundred men, were augmented until on October 7, 1918,
Division headquarters of the 88th Division was moved to Alontreaux Chateau, Haute-Alsace; and on October 15, 1918, the command of the Center Sector of Haute-Alsace passed from the 38th French Division to the 88th American Division, which formed part of the 40th French Army Corps of the VII French Army, while remaining under the VII American Army Corp; for administrative purposes.
To reach the sector, the infantry and engineers of the Division had been forced to make long marches—sometimes 25 kilometers a day—on congested roads, pulling with them their heavily loaded machine gun carts, combat and field wagons, in cases the average weight pulled per man being 250 pounds.
Furthermore, the Division had been forced to go without essential supplies, because all available transportation was being used to the maximum in the Argonne drive.
On arrival in France, the Division had been required to turn in all its field ranges, overcoats, and all except one blanket per man; and means of cooking had to be improvised, or secured by purchase from the French or by the utilization of small French stoves in billets, supplemented by the extensive use of camp kettles and water cans.
Until October 6, 1918, there were only two ambulances in the Division—and they had to serve the French troops in the area also.
Meantime, on September 20, 1918, a wide-spread epidemic of influenza set in. and in eight days there were 1,370 cases in one regiment alone. This epidemic increased until October 14, 1918, on which date there were eighty deaths. All told there were 6,845 cases of influenza and 1,041 cases of pneumonia reported, from which 444 deaths resulted.MILITARY: - image

A reunion of the descendants of Glen Yoder was held in Conconully, Washington, the community that Glen and his family first settled in when they moved to Washington state from Missouri, on July 24, 25, and 26, 1992. Attending were: Von and Marge Yoder, Joseph and Florence Yoder from Tigard, Oregon; Grace, Yoder, and John Robert from Newberg, Oregon; Irma, Yoder, and Relton Carpenter from Omak, Washington; Ena, Yoder, and Orville Barnes from Stanwood, Washington; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren of Glen and Allie Yoder. Also attending were descendants of Clarence Yoder, John and Frances Yoder, Ruth, Yoder, and Earl Courtney from Holden, Missouri and Lois, Yoder, Wilson from Marshal, Missouri. The event allowed time to get acquainted and reacquainted with family and friends. Potluck picnic dinners were hosted on Friday and Saturday nights by Joe and Florence Yoder and Von and Marge Yoder. On Sunday morning some of the more adventurous hiked to the top of a small mountain before Sunday Morning Church services in Conconully United Methodist Church. A brunch was served after Church services. This concluded the reunion for 1992. Another reunion is planned in two years.--reported by Carla Burke, Spokane
