CARPENTER, Mary E., age 86, of Kettering, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born December 23, 1928 in Plummer’s Landing, Kentucky to Ida (Muse) and Willie Luman. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Roy G. Carpenter. Mary is survived by her loving children, Tammy (Mike) Crawford and Randy (Ann Marie) Carpenter; her 2 grandsons, Jake and Zach Crawford; her loving and devoted sister, Nina Netherton; 2 sisters-in-law, Bonnie Burk and Judy (Dave) Barhorst; and 2 brothers-in-law, Carl Davidson and Jerry (Ann) Redmon. She is also survived by 6 nieces, Janet (Jim) Harter, Vicky (Ed) Maleszewski, Robyn (Larry) Farmer, Carla (Chuck) Norris, Ashley (Terrell) Thompson and Lindsey Cornwell; and 1 nephew, Scott (Cindy) Davidson; along with many other family and friends. Mary retired from the Dayton Newspaper Library after 10 years of service. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2015 at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, “Northridge Chapel,” 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. Interment Willow View Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at the George C. Martin Funeral Home. Those who wish may make donations to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. Special thanks to the nursing staff and physicians at Kettering Medical Center ER, SICU, and 5W Neuro Unit. Mary’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone at Hospice of Dayton for their loving and compassionate care during Mary’s final days. Mary devoted her life to her children and family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. There is no greater love than that of a mother for her children. You will live in our hearts forever

Judy Ellen Ball Whisman, age 72, of Big Bend Locust Road, Hillsboro, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg.

Born September 6, 1948, in Fleming County, she was a daughter of the late James Dallas Ball and Ruth Imogene Carpenter Ball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Ray Whisman on December 23, 2002, and a sister, Angela Carol Ball Bussell.

Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Amos Whisman, whom she married April 21, 1966; two daughters, Rebecca Ann Pyles of Flemingsburg, and Amy Elizabeth Henderson (David) of Sharpsburg; three grandchildren, Charles Herbert "Chase" Whisman (Mikayla) of Hillsboro, Cody Pyles of Morehead, and Audrey Pyles of Flemingsburg; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel Ray Whisman and Raelynn Whisman, both of Hillsboro.

Other survivors include one brother, James Dallas Ball, Jr. (Helen) of Lexington; two sisters, Brenda Smith and Ruthie Cooper, both of Flemingsburg; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

Judy was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and reading. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.  She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  David Henderson, Greg Flora, Menno Miller, Chase Whisman, Cody Pyles, and Anthony Vise.  Honorary Pallbearers: Daniel Ray Whisman, Tommy McDonald, and Jimmy Skaggs

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.

Charles Amos Whisman, age 75, of Big Bend Locust Road, Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the U.K. Medical Center Lexington.

Born May 8, 1947, in Fleming County, he was a son of the late Woodrow Whisman and Doris Easton Early. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Judy Ellen Ball Whisman on August 2, 2021; a son, Danny Ray Whisman on December 23, 2002; one sister, Kathy Whisman Emmons; and one brother, George Monroe Whisman.

Charles is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Ann Pyles of Flemingsburg and Amy Elizabeth Henderson (David) of Salt Lick; two grandsons, Charles Herbert "Chase" Whisman of Ewing and Cody Pyles of Morehead; one granddaughter, Audrey Pyles of Flemingsburg; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel Ray Whisman and Raelynn Whisman.

Other survivors include two sisters, Mary Hamilton of Sunman, Indiana, and Nannie Manning of Flemingsburg; one brother, Tommy Whisman (Wilhemenia) of Flemingsburg; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Charles was a life-long farmer and a retired road grader operator for the Fleming County Road Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors on the farm, working in his garden, and tending his small herd of cattle and two donkeys. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family get-togethers.  He will be remembered with love and greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2023, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Chase Whisman, Cody Pyles, David Henderson, Anthony Vise, Menno J. Miller, and Rick Eldridge.

Barbara E. Shepard, 57, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Resthave Home in Morrison, IL.
A private family visitation will be held. Interment at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded.
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Barb was born July 5, 1962, in Morrison, IL, to Robert L. and Emma H. (Dhaemers) Carpenter.
She was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1981 graduate of Morrison High School. She married Jeffrey Shepard Sr. on September 16, 1988. Barb was employed at Resthave Home as a dietary aide for 40 years. She enjoyed attending country music concerts, watching the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears football games and also watching the Quad City Storm Hockey team play. She was an avid Cubs fan and loved attending and watching the Cubs games. Barb's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Megan Shepard; two sons, Jeffrey Shepard Jr. and Jacob Shepard; two grandchildren, Marlee Stone and Willow Shepard; her mother, Mrs. Emma H. Carpenter and one sister, Sally (Thomas) Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Carpenter.
