Press of Atlantic City, The (NJ) - Monday, July 2, 2001CARPENTER, JOHN S. "MURDOCK," 74, of Vineland, died early Sunday morning at home where he had been under hospice care. Murdock was born in Tenafly, NJ and was a lifelong Vineland City resident.
Murdock retired in 1974 as the manager of the A&P Food Store in Vineland. He was a longtime bar tender at the North Italy Beneficail Association in Vineland. He enjoyed collecting old bottles and pens. He was a member of the South Vineland United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Florence J. (nee Guinan); one daughter: Donna Carpenter Pelikan; one granddaughter: Stephanie Elisano; two brothers: Edward and William Carpenter; three sisters: Alice Woodruff, Betty Lorenzo and Helen Gaburo, all of Vineland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted by his pastor the Rev. Dr. James E. Doran of the South Vineland United Methodist Church on Thursday, at 11 a.m. in the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 South Main Road, Vineland where friends will be received on Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville. For those who wish memorial contributions may be made to the hospice care of S.J., 2848 S. Delsea Dr., Vineland, NJ 08360.

EDWARD W. CARPENTER
Edward W. Carpenter, 81, of Vineland passed away Tuesday morning, April 27, 2010, at Genesis HealthCare Millville Center after an extended illness.Ed was born in Tenafly and a lifelong Vineland resident. He was the son of the late Elizabeth W. (Smith) and John Sears Carpenter Jr.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joan; brothers, John S. "Murdock," Robert "Lefty" and William Carpenter; and sisters, Helen Gaburo and Alice Woodruff.
Before retiring, Ed was employed by Acme Markets his entire career. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church of Vineland, where he served as an usher and also enjoyed working in the food pantry. He also was a member of the North Italy Beneficial Association. Ed enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing pool.
He is survived by one daughter, Debra Scrivani and her husband Thomas; one son, Kenneth Edward Carpenter; three grandchildren, Christina Marandino, Thomas R. Scrivani and Kenneth Cody Carpenter; one great-granddaughter, Katie Miller; dear friend, Claire Spigelmyer; and one sister, Betty Lorenzo; as well as many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, where relatives and friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Entombment will be at Overlook Cemetery Mausoleum in Bridgeton.

ALICE WOODRUFF, 76 Homemaker
Alice (Carpenter) Woodruff, 76, of Vineland, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2006, at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Vineland. Mrs. Woodruff was born in Englewood and was a lifelong Vineland city resident. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Thomas) and John Sears Carpenter Jr., and the wife of the late Leon L. Woodruff, who died in 2005. Mrs. Woodruff was a home-maker and a full-time mother. In her earlier years, she was employed as a clothing worker for Crown Clothing Co. of Vineland. She is survived by two sons, Mark and Brian Woodruff of Vineland; three daughters, Lois Toler of Vineland, Nancy
and husband Ron Garrison of Pittsgrove, and Alice Smith of Laurel Lake; six grandchildren, David, Janie, Kimberly, Chris, Renee and husband Frank, Robin and Rocky; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jade McKenzie Toler, Reese. Catrinia and Dayton; a brother, Edward Carpenter, a sister, Betty Lorenzo; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, in Vineland, where relatives and friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be at Siloam Cemetery in Vineland.

George W. Gaburo was born on January 9, 1936. His home of record is Landisville, NJ. He attended Vineland High School but left in 1955, to join the service. He later received his GED while in the service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and Friendship Church.
He served in the US Army and attained the rank of Master Sergeant (MSGT). He had been in the Army for twelve years before being sent to Vietnam.
Gaburo was killed in action on October 29, 1967. His was survived by his wife. Master Sergeant Gaburo is buried in Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, NJ.

Donna Carpenter Wood

Bradley – Donna C. Wood, 86, went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2016. She was born December 28, 1929 in Houlton, the daughter of Charles and Arla (Price) Carpenter. She was a 1948 graduate of Houlton High School.
Donna was a loving wife and homemaker and enjoyed being active for the church. She comforted those in need. It was never a surprise to see a stranger in her home having a meal. Donna was an avid reader and always had a newspaper within her reach.
In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by sisters Betty Dunlop and Lois Hannigan; sisters-in- law Velma Yatroussis, Clara Hiltz, Mary Beaulieu; brothers-in- law Arnie Dunlop, Larry Wasson, Gib Hanson; her husband George M. Wood; and her first husband, Fred G. Hanson.
She is survived by five children, Rick Hanson and wife Janet, Dale Hanson and wife Noreen, Tom Hanson and wife Priscilla, Penny Figuried and husband Donat, Randy Hanson; two brothers, Robert Carpenter, and Carl Carpenter and wife Margaret; sister Charla Portus; sisters-in-law Phyllis Knapp, June Wasson, Joyce Buck and Linda Spaight; brother- in- law Ben Hanson; 20 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks goes to the staff at Westgate Manor for the loving care they gave Donna. The family thanks Marie Burpee, a dear friend, and the ladies of Glad Tidings Church for their visits and cards.
Interment will be later in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Bradley.
