Dewitt Carpenter was a farmer his entire life...first in the Onsted area and finally in the Hudson area. Dewitt and Ethel were married in Clayton in 1900 and then took a buggy ride to Hudson where they picked up a train to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon. Also on this same train were Stacy Stone and his wife who were married in Medina on the same date. In later years, the Carpenters 2nd son, Donald, married the Stones' third daughter, Elizabeth.
