Sorry, I was just so excited about making my first connection I didn't make
it too clear who I am.
I am Douglas Dean Carpenter. I am the son of Gerald Orvalle Carpenter, who
is the son of Charles Orvalle Carpenter, the brother of George Washington
Carpenter. You had made a posting on the Family Tree Maker web site asking
about George Washington Carpenter.
According to my records, some of your information was not correct. To
clarify things, the parents of George, (the oldest) and C. Orvalle, (the
youngest) were William Monroe Carpenter and Lydia Ann Stewart. Also,
according to my records, William Monroe Carpenter was born Dec. 13, 1858 in
Maysville, DeKalb County, Missouri. He died August 6, 1913 at the same
location. Lydia Ann Stewart was born May 18, 1861 in Kentucky, and died June
15, 1925 in Maysville, DeKalb County, Missouri. They were Married September
19, 1878 in DeKalb County, Missouri.
Their children were:George Washington, born January 30, 1880; Arch M., born
February 22, 1882; Clarence James, born July 5, 1884; the twins, born
October 30, 1891, Clyde Ross, who survived, and Clude, who died two days
later on November 1; Earl Clifford, born December 30, 1896; Emma Susan, born
May 9, 1899; and my grandfather, Charles Orvalle, born March 4,1901.
I hope this clarifies things for you a bit. If you have any corrections to
make on my information let me know. I also have some information and even
some photographs of Lydia Ann and her parents. Also, if you have any
questions you think I might be able to help you with please let me know.

My grandmother Mary Emily Carpenter was called Emma. Her husband was John
Orpheous Carr. His father was James Carr. b. 9-1-1847 in Jeffersonville,
Fayette Co. Ohio and died 9-1-1875 in Hidalgo, Jasper Co. Ill. He married
Sarah Brooks in 1866 in Illinois.
