Police Sgt. Graham, 61, dies
Harley Elmer Graham, 61, sergeant and night supervisor of the Bennington Police Department, died Sunday at Albany Medical Center following a recent operation. He had been ill for most of the past two years.
Sgt. Graham resided at 113 Congress St., Bennington, with his wife the former Jean Burt. He was born in Groton, Feb 1, 1915, the son of Norman and Alma (Carpenter) Graham. He attended Bennington High School. The Grahams were married Aug 23, 1940 at United Methodist Church, Pownal.
Sgt. Graham came to Bennington in 1927. He worked at the fish hatchery, Railway Express, then joined the police force in 1954. During his years with the police he took special education and training courses. He became a sargeant in 1969.
He was a member of Mt. Anthony Lodge 13, the Eagle Hose Department, Vermont Police Association and the Bennington County Sheriff's Association. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bennington.
He is survived by a son, the Rev. Charles Graham, Bennington; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Holly) Adamowicz; a brother, Murdo Graham, Elwood City, Pa.; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church, Bennington, with the Rev. Richard D. Campbell, officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Contributions may be made in his name to the Bennington Rescue Squad or Mt. Anthony Masonic Temple through the funeral home office.
The following organizations will meet at the funeral home tonight; Bennington Rescue Squad at 7; Bennington Fire 7:15; Law Enforcement Group 7:30; the Masonic Lodge 8.

Patricia Anne Vacarest LaRoche, 73, a longtime resident of Franklin died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen following a period of failing health. Pat was born in Barre, Vermont, January 17, 1938, daughter of the late André and Beatrice (Carpenter) Vacarest. She resided in Claremont for over 30 years, moving to Franklin where she lived for over 35 years. For a time, she and her husband lived in Florida. Pat was employed for over 26 years as a LNA and later in physical therapy at the Merrimack County Nursing home prior to her retirement. Bio: Norman E. LaRoche, 82, a resident of Franklin for over 49 years, died suddenly at his home, 55 Damy Drive in Franklin on Monday, December 11, 2017. Norm was born in Claremont, March 8, 1935, son of Edward and Dora (Landry) LaRoche. He lived in Claremont until moving to Franklin. He had been employed in furniture sales with Arel Brothers in Claremont. He and his late wife spent several years living in Florida. Norm was store manager at Aubuchon Hardware in Franklin for 42 years prior to his retirement. He volunteered at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen for several years. Norm and his wife enjoyed traveling to the coast, enjoying the lighthouses there. Norman was admired and loved by his family and friends. Norm was a parishioner at St. Paul Church of St. Gabriel Parish in Franklin. He was a member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks, BPOE, 1280 and former member of the Franklin Kiwanis Club.He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Anne (Vacarest) LaRoche, June 8, 2011. He leaves sons, Mark LaRoche of Franklin, Michael LaRoche of Franklin and Mathew LaRoche of Northfield; daughters, Aileen Kulacz of Franklin, Darleen Nau of Spencerport, New York, Doreen Glines of Meredith, Carrie Mekkelsen, Shapleigh, Maine, Colleen Conway of Meredith and Melissa Dressler of Warwich, Rhode Island; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren
According to Norm's wishes, there will not be calling hours. A Celebration of Norm's life will be held at the Franklin Lodge Of Elks, corner of Bow and Central St. in Franklin, Saturday, December 30, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin.

s/o Norman and Patricia (Vacarest) LaRoche; h/o Robin LaRocheMark attended Franklin High School, joining the U.S. Army in 1977 where he served for 10 years. He served six of those years in Germany, where he developed a fondness for Nutcrackers, a collection of which he kept with great pride.
Returning from the Army, he met the love of his life, Robin, and made her his wife in August of 1994. He enjoyed family, fishing (including on the ice) and neighborhood BBQ's. An avid sports fan, he followed the Red Sox and Patriots with great enthusiasm.
He is survived by his wife Robin; a stepson; two brothers and six sisters.
His sense of humor will be missed by all.
