Before Zella died she told a story about her Grandfather,
Bradley Leach. Bradley's daughter was ready to have a baby. He
went to put his shoes on and broke his cotton shoe laces. He
then ran out to the barn to harness up the horse and the barn
door was locked. He said the baby will be born and have hair a
foot long before we get to the doctor. Zella had one daughter

A- He was tall but he only wore a size 7 1/2 shoe. His hair was
black and wavy. For several years (1928-1933) he worked in a
mine or shaft as he would come home dirty each day wearing a
hard hat with a light attached in the front. Around 1933 he
became ill and began having seizures (possibly Epilepsy). He
then started having trouble keeping work because of his
seizures. He then became a lumberjack working mainly by
himself. Occasionally he would take his daughter Pauline with
him on a sleigh pulled by oxen. He liked taking a nip now and
then on weekends and he would become very jolly. In the
mornings he would be the first person up and would start up the
heater and prepare breakfast for everyone. He never had a car
but did have a motorcycle for a short period of time. According
to Pauline he had an accident with it and never had anything to

Shirley D. (Sheldon) Clapp, age 96, of Danville passed away on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, a patient of Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Shirley had been a resident of Vintage Knolls in Danville for the past five years.
She was born on Monday, May 21, 1923, in Oakham, Mass., a daughter of the late Nathan William and Doris Althea (Carpenter) Sheldon.
Shirley graduated from the Marlborough High School, Marlborough, Mass., in 1941.
On Nov. 23, 1941, Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Robert Sanford Clapp, who preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1995.
Shirley was a member of the First English Baptist Church, Bloomsburg, and was an active member of every church she attended, serving on church boards, teaching Sunday school, playing the organ and singing in the choirs. Shirley was also active in her communities, in garden clubs, Girl and Boy Scouts as a leader. She enjoyed spending her time playing the organ, piano and harmonica, gardening, sewing, quilting, reading poetry, playing cribbage and doing family genealogy. She loved to keep in touch with friends and acquaintances from all the places she lived in the past, including New Bedford, Mass., Plymouth, Mass., Beverly, Mass., Florham Park, N.J., Sussex, N.J., Jeffersonville, N.Y., Englishtown, N.J., Salem, N.J., Lightstreet, Pa., Dover Plains, N.Y., and South Egremont, Mass.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was also preceded by a great???grandson, Noah FrostClapp, and a sister, Mary Mosher.
Survivors include her four children: Susan E. Fleming of Saint Augustine, Fla., Gordon S. Clapp and wife Mary of Bloomsburg, Richard A. Clapp and wife Nancy of Sheffield, Mass., Kenneth W. Clapp of Granby, Conn.; seven grandchildren: David FrostClapp and wife Kara of Ithaca, N.Y., Cynthia, wife of Ronald Eyer of Frederick, Md., Brian Clapp and wife Jennifer of Cumming, Ga., Deborah Sanchez of Orange Park, Fla., Scott Fawcett and wife Ting of Weymouth, Mass., Richard W. Clapp and wife Darcie of Grand Haven, Mich., Kimberly, wife of Nicholas Ludlum of Vienna, Va.; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Conder of Worcester, Mass.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at First English Baptist Church, 700 Millville Road, Bloomsburg.
