He joined the New Yrok National Guard (which later became federalized into the US Army) on 22 Apr 1916 from New York. He was sent to France where he was Wounded in Action (WIA) and taken as Prisoner of War (POW). He then died of his wounds (DOW) and he was buried on the battlefield. His body was never recovered and he is listed on the Tablets of the Missing.ABMC:
