Number 1966 in the Carpenter Memorial.  Page 262.
Per the CM, born about 1778.  Sequence would be 1785 however.  Twins in family?
Family is number 639 on page 443.

NAME: Middle name Sylvester?

Descendant Line updated in December 2010 by: Eddie Carpenter
now at: eddie.carpenter3@me.com
13. Daniel: the 1778 birthdate is an error. Based upon marriage to Mary Champlin on 19 Jun 1782 a date of about 1763 is more likely. Also likely the eldest son of Daniel. Marriage record refers to him as Daniel Carpenter 3rd. This is consistent with other records referring to his father as "Junior". There is a record referred to in a letter from a cousin that Daniel (#814 above) sold land in 1802 which he had earlier purchased from this son Daniel prior to departure to Norway, NY. This is the line I believe I descend from.

These folks appear to have stayed in Richmond, RI. As mentioned above there are records for a land sale between Daniel III and his father Daniel II prior to Daniel II departure for Herkimer. A number of children may have relocated to Norway with or following their grandparents, Daniel and Susannah.

8. Peggy: familiar for Margaret. married Park Enos in 29 Mar 1790 in Richmond, CT. Relocated to Norway and Fairfield, Herkimer, NY in 1800. Died there in abt 1855.

3135. Susannah "Susan" Carpenter

Subject: Carpenter Counsins

Hello John Carpenter,

I’ve been looking at your capentercousins page and I’ve used it for clues in my own search for my Carpenter/Champlin line.
In your mountain of wonderful research I think I might have found one little glitch.
This is in reference to #7065 Elizabeth Champlin, daughter of #3002 Susannah “Susan” Carpenter (1764-1854) and William Champlin of Kingston RI.

I believe that Elizabeth Champlin was not married to James Hull Steadman.

In Fold 3 I found dozens of documents related to Susannah Carpenter Champlin’s request for Revolutionary War pensions benefits.  First she submitted affidavits witnessing her marriage to William Champlin in her father Daniel Carpenter’s home.  Then she has proof that after her husband’s death she moved to Cattaraugus County NY and then to Eaton Rapids MI.  Along the way she first lived with son Samuel (affidavit), and then in a census it shows she lived with her daughter Elizabeth Champlin Champlin and son-in-law Job Champlin (Elizabeth and Job were cousins of some degree, so it was a Champlin-Champlin marriage), and then documents show that she  (Susannah Carpenter Champlin) intended to live the rest of her years in Eaton Rapids MI with her grandson, William P Champlin, who was the son of Elizabeth and Job Champlin.   They are all buried in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.

My research (censuses, will, newspaper, find-a-grave) shows that Elizabeth Champlin (1784 RI - 1854 Eaton Rapids MI, Daughter of Susannah Carpenter and William Champlin) was married to Job Champlin (1783-1840).

This is small potatoes in your massive compilation but, if I my information is correct, it might help somebody else someday.

Oops. My mistake. My Carpenters were in Washington County, not Lewis County, until Susannah Carpenter, daughter of Samuel, married Charles Ross and moved to Lewis County, where they started Rossdale Farm, which is still in my family, operated by my cousin.

John,

I saw Daniel Carpenter of Lewis County NY on your Y-DNA Chart, who is in my mother’s lineage.

Do you happen to know if they served in the Revolutionary War?
