Resided in Granville,,OH.

http://www.heritagepursuit.com/Licking/LickingFile9a-e.htm
HISTORY OF LICKING COUNTY. - 640
GRANVILLE TOWNSHIP.
CASE, GROVE, was born in Connecticut January 20, 1800. He was brought to Licking county, Ohio, in 1807, by his parents, Major Grove and Cinderilla Case, who settled in Granville, where they deceased. He died in 1836 or 7, aged fifty-six years. His wife survived him until January, 1867, aged eighty-seven years. Major Case built the well-known house in Granville, in which he kept hotel from 1810 until 1814 or 15. He served as major in the War of 1812; was at Fort Meigs when besieged. He, in company with Silas Wincbell, erected the first grist-mill in Granville town-

ship. He was the father of four children-three sons, born in Connecticut, viz: Grove, Norton and Jarvis; one daughter, Lucinda, born in Granville. All of the children are living, except Norton, who deceased in March, 1879. Mr. Case was reared a farmer, and has followed farming and stock-raising, as his vocation. He married Laura Carpenter, of Delaware county, Ohio, May 15, 1821; born October l0, 1797 ; daughter of Nathan Carpenter, a soldier of the War of 1776. They settled on North street, Granville township, Licking county, Ohio, on the farm now occupied by his grandson-in-law. He erected the residence, now in use, in which they lived for fifty-six years. In October, 1877, they moved on the farm where they are now living, which he had purchased in 1876. Their residence is a fine brick structure. They reared a family of three children: Lucius A. married Polly Rose, in 1844, daughter of Levi Rose, and he deceased July 3, 1866; Laura J. died at the age of seventeen years; Lucy C. married James Sennett, and died two years after her marriage.

History of Homer from Smith's History part 2
The water power at this site is a very valuable one. In 1816 Eli Carpenter came from Tolland, Conn., purchased a share in the water privilege and lands contiguous thereto and put up a fulling-mill and facitities for dyeing and dressing cloth, with carding machine, etc. This establishment was very prosperous for several years and the business was further extended by Mr. Carpenter in the manufacture of carpets of brilliant color, dyed by himself. In the mean time Mr. Crandall's mills had become somewhat imipaired by age and about thebyear 1835 or1836, he became the sole owner of the site and water power, and proceeded to erect new mills. The business revived, but the domestic manufacture of cloth declined yearly and was eventually abandoned. The mills erected by Mr. Carpenter are still standing, but have been much enlarged and changed to meet the growing needs of the vicinity. A large businss is done in the manufacture of flour and feed and in the production of lumber. Alfred Utley succeeded Mr. Carpenter in the mills, following whom came the present proprietors, the Holmes brothers in the saw-mill, and the Cortland Wagon Company in the grist-mills, which are managed for the company by Wm. H. Moore. Mr. Carpenter was a man of energy and business ability and prospered in whatever he undertook. He was justice of the peace a number of times, and died in 1863.

HARMONY & NORTH HARMONY
This synopsis incompasses both Harmony and North Harmony.
HARMONY was taken off from Chautauqua, Feb 14, 1816. A part of Busti was taken
off in 1823. It comprised townships 1 and 2 in range 13, together with two
tiers of lots in townships 1 and 2 in range 12, from PA line to Chautauqua
Lake, and two additional lots in township 2, 12th range, south of the lake,
which included the village of Ashville. Making it the largest town in the county.
NORTH HARMONY was taken off from Harmony on Jan 1, 1919. Due to this late date.
The pioneer information of these two towns remains combined for this synopsis.
