Jan C. Carpenter Jan C. Carpenter, 70, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014. He was born August 18, 1943, in Topeka, the son of Clarence and Lorraine (Stewart) Carpenter. Jan honorably served his country in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Investigator during the Vietnam era. He was the owner of Carpenter s Reliable Cleaners in Topeka for 17 years. He was later employed as a salesperson with Sears in Topeka. Jan married Kimberly Donohue on July 2, 1972 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include his sons, Logan Carpenter, of Topeka, and Aaron Carpenter (Jessica) of Round Rock, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Carpenter. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 S.W. 6th Avenue, Topeka. Cremation will follow the ceremony. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148. OVERLAND PARK -- Eben W. "Bill" Carpenter, 57, formerly of Topeka, died Friday, July 23, 1999, at an Overland Park hospital.
Mr. Carpenter was a broker. He worked for Global World Trust for 20 years and was in private investments in the Kansas City, Kan., area at the time of his death.
He was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Topeka, the son of Clarence W. and Lorraine E. Stewart Carpenter.
Survivors include a daughter, Gina Carpenter, of California; a son, Scott Carpenter, Topeka; a mother, Lorraine Carpenter, Topeka; a brother, Jan C. Carpenter, Topeka; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home Chapel in Topeka.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Carpenter will lie in state after 11 a.m. Thursday at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home.
