Arleigh Joe Carpenter, Sr., 72, of Davidson, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on December 17, 1944 in Mackinac Island, MI, to the late Charles and Ardys Engle Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter was a veteran of the US Coast Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Penny” Howard Carpenter; and a brother, Donald Carpenter.
He is survived by his children, Arleigh Joe Carpenter, Jr. (Pamela), Theresa McCormick (Mike); step-daughter, Jennifer Howard Edwards (David); partner, Christine Marie Olea; brother, Charles “Cork” Carpenter; grandchildren, Amelia and Miranda McCormick, Madison Carpenter, Sydney Wiggins and Ashley Edwards.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 17 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Masonic Rites and Military honors. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.

Bio: Lanie provided the Obit:MOORESVILLE Margaret Howard Carpenter, 63, of Mooresville Rd., Davidson, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011, at her residence. Born on May 14, 1948, in Charlotte, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Mitchell and Grace Roberts Howard.
Mrs. Carpenter was formerly employed as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Concord and Lake Norman Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Mrs. Carpenter also loved to crochet.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Vann Mitchell Howard and Joel Roberts Howard. Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her husband, Arleigh Carpenter, of Davidson; daughter, Jennifer Morgan Edwards and husband, L. David Edwards, Jr.; and granddaughters, Sydney Elizabeth Edwards and Ashley Grace Edwards.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Parkwood Baptist Church in Concord with Pastor Michael Waters officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis, NC 28081 and/or Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Dr., Concord, NC 28027.
