8333. Jeremiah Carpenter

Garrard county was created out of Madison in 1797.
Some researchers do not agree that Jeremiah belongs in this family.

3508. Robert Carpenter

BIRTH: 29 Apr 1783 in Charles Carpenter record, 29 May 1783 in another
record.  Not born in Augusta county, VA.  He was born in Madison county, KY.
Terry Lee Carpenter comments:
Perhaps it should also be noted that no birth date is given on Robert's gravestone -- his date of birth has been calculated from his age at death, 81 years, 11 months, and 24 days on 22 Mar 1865, which works out to 26 Mar 1783 by most calculators. Calculating age at death depended on the memory of the individual or his family and the math skills of the person doing the calculation, so could be off by a significant amount. Different transcribers get different day and month numbers, but agree on the 1783 year. TLC

NOTE: This area was Kentucky county, VA before 1780. After 1780 it was
Lincoln county, VA then KY then in 1786 Madison KY Territory.  In 1792 KY
became a state.
Garrad County, KY was formed in 1797.
Robert Carpenter moved to Missouri or Kansas about 1852?
He is not Robert Carpenter-20271 who is from a Zimmerman line.

CHILDREN: Children order and no birth dates given in both records, except as
indicated.
