Since I was researching Walter, and could not find him in the 1850-1880 Census, I assumed he died abt 1849/1850. I now know he died May of 1850. Philo was the son of Charles G and Mary Ann (Dart) Carpenter. Mary Ann Dart was a sister of Celinda Dart who was the mother of Mattie cook. Philo was the second of two children of Charles G and Mary Ann Carpenter. They were married late in life and had no children. Philo was a farmer in Park Tp St Joseph Co Michigan having bout the property that was once owned by Albert and Celinda Cook when they lived in Michigan.Philo and Martha lived on that farm until a few weeks prior to his death when they moved to the city of Three Rivers, Mich. where he died 26 May 1912 and was buried in South Park Cemetery.
Martha later married Martin Miller of Three Rivers Michigan. Her second marriage was not a too happy one and when she died 28 Dec 1921 her husband buried her in the Three Rivers Cemetery instead of the South Park Cemetery where her first husband was buried.

Wawayanda was established in 1849 from the town of Minisink. The area was called the Wawayanda Patent, froma 1703 land grant.
