Carpenter. He was a veteran of
The U.S. Navy and retired from the
Valdese Manfacturing Company.
In addition to his parents, he
was preceeded in death by his son,
Donald William Carpenter; brothers
Moile Carpenter, Milligan Carpenter,
and Lester Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife,
Katherine " Kitty " Vance Carpenter;
son, James Albert Carpenter of Morganton;
daughter, Josie Couch of Morganton;
brother, Deater Carpenter of Morganton;
sisters, Wilma Carswell of Hickory;
Virginia McClellan of Newland, Nina
Miller of Nebo and Anith Shorthouse
of Morganton, grandchildren,
Katherine Elizabeth Thompson, Kristin
Carpenter, Brandon Thompson, and
Patrick and Missy Couch.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church
with the Revs. Scott Moneyham and
Luther Carver officiating. Interment
will follow the service in the church
cemetery.
The family will receive friends
today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the
funeral home.
Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton
will be assisting the family.

Pine on August 3.
A native and lifelong resident of Avery County,
she was a daughter of the late Wess and Marie
Stulls Buchanan and a member of the Big
Meadows Baptist Church. She worked in the
cafeteria of the Crossnore Elementery School
for many years. She was preceded in death by
a daughter, Shirley Jean Carpenter, and a
great-grandchild, Dennis Lee Barnard.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law,
Dean and Debbie Oaks, her son and
daughter-in-law, Eddie and Netia Carpenter,
her special sister, Gladys Parker, grandchildren
Nathan and Jason Oaks, Misty McGraw and
Dustin and Kayla Barnard, all of Newland;
several nieces and nephews; and a host of
friends.
Funeral services with the Rev. Hugh Hall
officiating were conducted in the Grandfather
Chapel of the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home
on Saturday, Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. Graveside
services and interment in the Big Meadows
Cemetery were conducted on Sunday at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made

Mr. Carpenter was a retiree from Broughton Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Norman Carpenter of the home; two daughters, Sheila Norville and her husband, Junior, of Drexel and Sandra Oaks and her husband, Andrew, of Hildebran; two sons, Jerry Carpenter of Valdese and David Carpenter of Morganton; his grandchildren, Holly Rose and her husband, Jarrett, of Drexel, Erica Huffman and her husband, Kelly, of Lincolnton, Whitney Norville of Drexel, Kara Carpenter of Morganton and Brandon and Ashley Carpenter of Valdese; great-grandchildren, Chelsie Rose and MaKenzie Norville; brothers, Tommy, Andy and Mason of Crossnore; and sisters, Elwanda Cook of Clemmons, Della Mae Ellis of Oak Hill and Levonda Pyatte of Holden Beach.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in the Glen Alpine Community Cemetery.

Schyler "Bud" Carpenter, 69, of Henderson Mill Road, Morganton, NC, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 5, 2009 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC after an extended illness.Born in Avery County, NC on October 24, 1939, he was the son of the late Schyler Anderson Carpenter, Sr. and Bertie Stamey Carpenter.
He was a member of Arney's Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Fort Hood, TX. He worked for Drexel Heritage for 26 years.
Bud is survived by his wife of 21 years, Fannie Bell Hembree Carpenter of the home; a son, Paul Anderson Carpenter and fiancée, Tracy Byrd, of Morganton; a step-son, Dwight Street of Morganton; grandsons, Tyler Anderson Carpenter and Justin Street; brothers, Loyd Carpenter of OH, Max Carpenter of McDowell County, NC, and Russell Carpenter of Catawba County, NC; and sisters, Ellen Carpenter of McDowell County and Carolyn Weller of Catawba County.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 8, 2009 in Arney's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Neal Brantley officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 2608, Morganton, NC 28680 to assist with funeral expenses.

Carolyn attended Christian Outreach Center Church. She was a determined, strong-minded woman who loved watching her soap operas.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 33 years; a daughter; two brothers; a sister; and several nieces, nephews, and close family friends.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
The memorial service was held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home.

Anna Mae Childs Carpenter age 90, of English Street in Spruce Pine passed from this earth on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Mitchell House in Spruce Pine.
Born January 31, 1925 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Maude Robinson Childs of the Three Mile Community. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband; Don E. Carpenter who passed away in March 1994, two brothers; Manning and Albert Childs, and a sister; Lena Childs Wise.
Anna Mae was a devoted member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church and former Sunday school teacher, W.M.U. President and Treasurer and Choir member. She was also a member of the E.C.A. Homemaker Club and Secretary of the Beaver Creek Club.
She is survived by two sons; Dale Carpenter and his wife, Mary Jean, and Dennis Carpenter and his wife Denise, all of the Three Mile Community, grandson; Jeff Carpenter and wife Meredith of Waynesville, NC, a great granddaughter; Adalyn, a sister; Thelma Andrews of State College, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Anna Mae Carpenter on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Reverend’s Brandon Pitman and Ken Mashburn officiating.
A time to receive friends and share memories and support the family will be from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, April 27, 2014 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home.Flowers will be appreciated or the family requests donations to the Gideons International at PO Box 611, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.

Dennis Carpenter, age 61, of Childs Lane in Newland, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville from complications of an aneurysm.Born on March 12, 1954 in Spruce Pine, NC, he was the son of the late Don and Anna Mae Childs Carpenter.
Dennis was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. He was a former employee of Baxter’s Healthcare in North Cove in Marion for sixteen years until he became disabled from a stroke. He volunteered at Cannon Hospital in Linville for many years until his health condition worsened. Dennis touched many lives while he was there.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Denise Carpenter; one brother; Dale Carpenter and wife, Mary Jean; four sisters-in-law; his father-in-law; many nieces, nephews, and one great niece.
