964. Lydia Carpenter

NUmber 796 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 140.

966. Molly Carpenter

NUmber 798 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 140.
Her husband was a farmer.

971. David Carpenter

Number 803 in CARPENTER MEMORIAL on page 140.
Per corrective notes on page 838, he died young.

Jess or Jesse Bliss

NAME: Jesse inthe CM and Jess in the AF.

Sarah Hunt

Possibly Native American.  Another "HUNT" born abt 1710 in this area was a
Native American.

262. David Perrin

Either David or Daniel was the father of David who married Abigail Cooper.
Which one is the question.

269. Joseph Carpenter

Number 180 on page 73 of the Carpenter Memorial.
Family on page 122 (#89).
David J. Jilson of Attleboro says (in the 1880s) the intention of marriage was
entered in the RI records on 16 Feb 1723. Residence in Bristol, RI and Surinam
where he died 4 Feb 1745.  HOWEVER!  SEE E-MAIL BELOW!
A second marriage is mentioned in notes of his son, Number 619, born August
1743, Cyril on page 122.  ". . . probably by 2d wife Huldah . . .".
Jilson also stated the children were born in Bristol, RI.  HOWEVER! The second marriage is not logical and is in question also. It was another Jos. Carpenter who married a Huldah Walker and their son Cyril (b. 27 Aug 1743 verses 7 Sep 1743). See: CE CD RIN 7843.

Surinam = Suriname = Dutch Guiana.  This country is located in the northeast
coast of South America between Guyana and French Guiana.
Misc Note: During the mid 1700s due to Dutch neglect and slave uprisings
the economy of the country suffered.  Sugar was a main export to New England
during this time period.

Subject: More Corrections to Amos B. Carpenter
John,
Attached are some additions and corrections to ABC pertaining to Joseph5 Carpenter of Bristol, Mass. (Joseph4 - 3, William2-1), and his family.  I had come across an item in John Comer's diary pertaining to the drowning between Hog Island and Bristol of a Mr. Joseph Carpenter in 1728.  Once I figured out which Joseph Carpenter he was, I thought I might as well correct and augment as much as I could of the ABC material concerning him, his wife, and children.
Best wishes,
Gene

More corrections and additions to Amos B. Carpenter,  _A Genealogical
History of the Rehoboth Branch of the Carpenter  Family in America_ (Amherst,  Mass.,
1898), hereafter cited as  ABC:

JOSEPH5 CARPENTER, son of Joseph4 (Joseph3, William2-1) and Mary  (______)
Carpenter, was born at Swansea, Mass., on 20 June 1688 (Swansea  VR, A:22; ABC,
58, 73).  Rather than declaring marriage intentions  at Bristol, Mass.
[R.I., 1747], on 16 February 1723 (see ABC, 73), he  married there (Rev. John
Usher presiding) on 16 February 1623/4, ABIGAIL  NEWTON, sister of John  Newton
of Bristol (James N. Arnold, _Vital Record  of Rhode Island, 1636-1850_,  21
vols. [Providence, 1891-1912], 6:1:13,  8:202; Estelle Wellwood Wait, "The
Papillons of Boston and Bristol,"  _The New England Historical and Genealogical
Register_ [NEHGR]  124[1970]:161-82, at 177).  Joseph5 did not die in  Surinam
on 4  February 1745 (see ABC, 73) but drowned with three others in  passage
from Hog Island to Bristol on 21 December 1728, when their canoe "sunk   under
them"
("Births, Deaths, Marriages, and One Divorce: Found in the  Diary of  Edward
Comer," _The Mayflower Quarterly_ 67[2001]:135-47, at  139).  His  widow,
Abigail--not his sister of that name, who died at  Swansea, 1 February  1683 (not
1783) (Swansea VR, A:137; see ABC,  74)--married, second, at Bristol on  29 (int.
16) February 1735/6,  Obadiah Papill(i)on (Arnold, _VR of R.I._, 6:1:13,  8:202).

Abigail Papillon, "widow, of Rehoboth," Mass., where she had moved   between
1763 and 1769, was buried at Providence, R.I., on 16 February  1776  (Arnold,
_VR of R.I._, 10:152; NEHGR 124:179).

Children (two only [see ABC, 122]) of Joseph5 and  Abigail (Newton)
Carpenter:

i.  SARAH6  CARPENTER,  b. Bristol, 3 Feb. 1724/5, d. probably
Bristol, 22 Feb.  174[/7]8 (Arnold,  _VR of R.I._, 6:1:13, 121, 8:150, 224).

ii.  JOSEPH CARPENTER,  b. Bristol, __ Oct.  1726, d. Surinam (rec.
Bristol), 4 (not 24  [see ABC, 122]) Feb.  1745, aged 19 (Arnold, _VR of
R.I.,_ 6:1:13, 121).

Abigail Newton

"... sister of John Newton of Bristol ..."

976. Sarah Carpenter

Number 618 on page 122 of the Carpenter Memorial.

One IGI listing has her born in Hopkinton, Washington, RI with parents Joseph & Abigail (?) Carpenter - same date as given. - This makes me wonder ...

977. Joseph Carpenter

Number 617 on page 122 of the Carpenter Memorial.
Family number 238, but CM indicates the family is dropped..
Born in October per the CM, but no year given.

She was the daughter of JOHN4 CARPENTER, b. 19 Oct. 1652, d. Dedham, Mass., after 13 May 1708, probably on 9 April 1713.

Jonathan Ormsby

AFN 1TGD-F3 (ORMSBY) and BVZK-W4 (ORMSBEE) are the same person.
Marriage date with Anna should be after 1736.
NOTE: Gene Zubrinsky indicates that Jonaathan Ormsby did not marry (27 June 1830) Ann Carpenter b. 1 Mar 1696/1697 of Woodstock who died 13 Dec 1717. He may have married another, but he did not research that.

Sharilyn,
In answer to your inquiry as to the identity of Jonathan Ormsbee and Rebeka
Carpenter:
JONATHAN ORMSBEE, b. at Rehoboth, Mass., 1 May 1705, d. probably at
Cumberland, R.I., after 19 Feb. 1759, son of Jonathan and Mercy (Fitch)
Ormsbee, was the widower of Experience Chaffee (d. ca. 21 August 1729) when
he married at Rehoboth, 15 July 1730, REBECKAH (HAMMOND) CARPENTER, b. at
Rehoboth, 11 October 1707, d. probably at Cumberland, between 1747 and 1758,
daughter of William and Rebecka (Ormsbee) Hammond of Swansea and Rehoboth.
The younger Rebeckah's first marriage, at Attleborough or Rehoboth (rec. both
places), 18 January 1727/8, had been to Michael Carpenter, b. at Rehoboth, 14
October 1701, d. at Attleborough, 28 August 1729, son of William Jr. and
Elizabeth (Robinson) Carpenter.  After Rebeckah's death, widower Ormsbee
married third, at Cumberland, 19 February 1759, Ruth Staples, b. at Wrentham,
Mass., 20 August 1728, daughter of Joseph and Hannah (Bartlett) Staples.
Ormsbee's father (Jonathan Sr.) married at Rehoboth, 20 January 1742/3, as
his second wife, Rebeckah's stepmother (her father's third wife), Martha
(Red[a]way) Hammond, b. at Rehoboth, 26 July 1687, daughter of John and Mary
(Ide) (Fuller) Red(a)way.

Page 34 -  THE JOHN BILLINGTON Family.
Elinor, Often Written "Ellen" or "Helen" - by Bradford or by Plymouth court
Clerks, invariably was called "Ellinor" In her own and her son's land records.
Ellinor Billington, widow, on 8 Jan. 1637/8 for "natural love I bear unto
Francis Billington My natural son," Conveyed to him, all her land at Plain
Dealing in New  Plymouth, reserving enough of the land for her own use during
her lifetime. [11]
On 28 Aug. 1638 Ellinor Billington, widow, entered into a marriage contract
with Gregory Armstrong; and by 21 Sept. 1638 Gregory Armstrong and Ellinor his
Wife, with her son Francis Billington, sold land. [11]
0n the last date at which Ellinor is known to living, 2 March 1642/3. Francis
Billington of Plymouth, planter, sold three lots of land at Plain Dealing with
in  the township of Plymouth; Provided that Ellinor, the wife of Gregory
Armstrong be allowed to occupy one of the three lots, during her lifetime. [11]
It has been pointed out that all that Is known about the Billington Pilgrims,
Is written by William Bradford, he Obviously disliked and criticized the entire
family from the beginning. The Billingtons were not in sympathy With the aims
and  tenets of the Plymouth Church, but one wonders that they were not more
cooperative with those it authority who struggled to establish and maintain
such a fragile colony on the hostile New England shore.
John Billington, however, stoutly supported individual independence and freedom
of speech, raising the voice of opposition when he disagreed with the rule of
government.  He and his descendants surely contributed to that integral part of
the American character!

Although Bradford's, History old Plymouth Colony records often refers to her as
'Ellen' or 'Helen,' when she and her son stated her name in their own deeds
as, deeds of 1638-1641, it is invaribly written "Ellinor". She entered into A
marriage agreement 28 Aug. 1638, [4] and m. (2) between 14 and 21 Sept, 1638
Gregory Armstrong. [4] He d. Plymouth 5 Nov. 1650. [53]
Although Bradford states that the Billington family joined the Mayflower
Company from London, there is evidence that they are originally from
Lincolnshire.  In 1612 Francis Longland, Gent., of Lincolnshire named Francis
Billington, as one of his two heirs in a lease of Crown land. [1,2,61
John Billington and his really received three acres In the 1623 Division Of
Land at Plymouth and in May 1627 he, his wife and sons John and Francis were
named in the Division of Cattle.   In 1651 Bradford wrote: 'John Billington,
after he had after he had been here ten years, was executed for killing a man,
and his eldest son died before him.  But his second son is alive and married
and hath eight children." [2]

Note:  Birth Year:  William Post (49807639) on 4 Dec 2020 - Birth year of Desire Martin Carpenter (findagrave memorial 57866285):
"I suggest changing Desire's birth year [from 1684] to 1685.
     The Mayflower birth/death records give "20 Mar 1684/5". ( Vol 1, pg 109)
Her brother Robert was born 9 Sep 1683. If their mother Mercy was pregnant again 4 weeks after his birth, then on 20 Mar 1684 Desire would have been born at most with only 22 weeks gestation. That was very rarely survivable in those days. So it is much more likely that she was born in 1685 due to that reason.
There is then plenty of time before Desire's younger brother Francis was born on 7 May 1686.
Thanks for considering this.

[p. 17:]
John Martin came to Rehoboth from England between 1660 and 1664 with his
father, Richard.  John inherited from his father the homestead and other
property in Rehoboth and continued to reside there.  During King Philip's War in
1676 John paid his father's tax and was himself a soldier in that conflict from
Rehoboth.  In 1740 his son, John Martin of Rehoboth, was awarded bounty land for
his father's service.
John Martin, son of Richard, was always of Rehoboth, never of Swansea.
On 1 Aug. 1707 John and Mercy Martin of Rehoboth and her sisters Elizabeth
Patte, Dorcas May and Mary Sabin conveyed "for love" to their niece Desire
Billington, daughter of their brother Isaac, their rights to the Middleboro land
of their father Francis Billington, deceased.
The inventory of the estate of John Martin Sr. of Rehoboth was take 6 Sept.

the estate 4 March 1722/3.
     In a deed dated 29 July 1725, acknowledged 11 March 1733/4, recorded 16
Oct. 1761 [sic], John Martin [son] of Rehoboth, taylor, sold the home lot of his
father John Martin dec., to Jotham Carpenter, husband of his sister Desire.

NOTE:  The Izabel that it says is unknown, is widow Isabel Sherman of the elder Jotham Carpenter--consider the settlement of the estate of Jotham Carpenter (son of Benjamin and Renew Weeks Carpenter) occurred 3 days after the appointment of the younger Jotham Carpenter as her guardian. It makes perfect sense that the more immediate task was to make sure the widow of the father was taken care of. Property can wait.  [FAG contributor K.E.L.]

Descendant of Mayflower Passengers John Billington & family.

Famous Descendants of Mayflower Passengers
There are millions of Mayflower descendants living today, but very few
descendants actually know it.  Eight U.S. presidents are known to be descended
from Mayflower passengers, and a number of other famous people including
astronauts, poets, politicians, actors and actresses, directors, inventors and
others are descendants as well.  Below are a list of the most famous individuals
I know about that have Mayflower ancestries.  Their blood lineage back to the
Mayflower passenger is included (in red).  Many of these lineages were
originally published by Gary Boyd Roberts of the New England Historic and
Genealogical Society, who regularly publishes new discoveries and article on his
Notable Kin website.

Notes for Edward Winslow:
According to William S. Appleton, A.M. in the English Ancestry of the Winslow
Family, all of the names were spelled "Wynslowe" in the Register of St.
Peter's, Droitwich, Vol 4.
Marriage Notes for Edward Winslow and Magdalen Ollyver:
"In the fourth volume of the Register (Page 840) was printed a record of the
baptisms of the children of Edward Winslow, of Droitwich, in Worcestershire,
England, purporting to be "taken from an ancient bible in the possession of
Mr. Isaac Winslow."  Hon. James Savage, in the Genealogical Dictionary of New
England, taking the most unfavorable point of view, denies that this record
has any claims to consideration, rejecting it partly on the ground that 20
October, 1595, was not Sunday, but Monday.  Whatever may have been the
ecclesiastical ordinance as to the proper day of baptism, in practice the
rite was certainly administered on any day of the week.  Having had occasion
to examine many parish-registers in England, I can say most positively, that
in such volumes baptisms often follow each other at irregular intervals, and
that they do so on the register of St. Peter's, Droitwich.  Last summer I
copied, letter for letter the entries relating to the Winslow family."
The above quote is from "English Ancestry of theWinslow Family" by William S.
Appleton, A.M.

died 01 Oct 1680 in Marshfield, Plymouth Co., MA.

280. Hannah Carpenter

Number 192 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 74.

NOTE: This marriage is challenged. Why? Because the Hannah Carpenter who married David Thurston was a widow - whose maiden name was French.
Per Gene Zubrinsky
... Widow Hannah m. (2) Rehoboth 18 Nov. 1725, as his 2nd wife, David Thurston (RVR 1:37, 46, 152, 174 [not 168], 2:140, 230; Old Rehoboth Cem 18, 51; RI Cems 69, 358; RVR [pub] 363, citing RVR 7:11). The will of John French, dated 31 May 1723, names daughter Hannah Carpenter, widow. On-line records have this David as the son of John and Hannah Cary Thurston, born "before 1691"  which may or may not be correct.
Can anyone tell me the identity of this Hannah Carpenter? The only remotely close one I have is the Hannah born abt 1711, daughter of Ephraim and Hannah Read Carpenter, but she would have been a mighty young bride. I am trying to get my Carpenter ducks in a row.
Thanks,

THREE JOHN CARPENTERS: A CHAIN OF MISTAKEN IDENTITIES
Article by Eugene Cole Zubrinsky  From: NEHGRJan2005.

JOHN5 CARPENTER (BENJAMIN4, JOSEPH3, WILLIAM2–1) OF SWANSEA AND REHOBOTH, MASSACHUSETTS

Once the preceding John Carpenter and family of Connecticut is correctly identified, it becomes apparent that Amos Carpenter’s highly popular but seriously flawed Carpenter genealogy mistakenly incorporates them into an account of still another John Carpenter, son of Benjamin4 and Renew (Weeks) Carpenter of Swansea.[] Born at Swansea on 25 March 1691,[] this John Carpenter married first, at Rehoboth on 12 September 1717, Sarah Thurston (both then of Rehoboth),[] who was born at Medfield, Massachusetts, on 29 July 1691, daughter of John and Hannah (Cary) Thurston.[] By dating Sarah’s death in 1744, Amos Carpenter implies that she was the mother of all eleven children he attributes to Benjamin and Renew Carpenter’s son John.[] Only John’s first child, Hannah (born 16 July 1718),[] was born to Sarah Thurston, however. Though still living on 17 March 1718/9,[] Sarah had died by 6 May 1722, when John Carpenter of Swansea married at Tiverton, Massachusetts, a second Sarah, Sarah Hillard,[] who was born at Little Compton, Massachusetts,[] on 28 June 1692, and died, probably at Swansea (certainly not in Connecticut), on 24 October 1744, in her 53rd year (not age 53), daughter of William2 and Deborah (Warren) Hill(i)ard, formerly of Hingham, Massachusetts.[] Only three of the remaining ten children whom Amos Carpenter assigns to John and Sarah (Thurston) Carpenter are his, and none is hers: Barnard, John, and Warren are this John Carpenter’s sons with second wife Sarah Hillard; Mehitable, Huldah, Louis [sic, Lois], Sarah, and Elizabeth are daughters of John and Sarah (_____) Carpenter of Connecticut (see previous section); Eliphalet belongs with none of these families; and Harriet (given the same birth date as John’s first child, Hannah, and described as her twin) is non-existent.[]
All secondary sources but one (published in 2002) ignore the Carpenter–Hillard marriage.[] Amos Carpenter identifies this John Carpenter’s second wife as “Martha H— of Windham, Conn.,” and others follow suit.[] She, however, was undoubtedly Martha (Gould) Hibbard, identified in the previous section as the second wife of John Carpenter of Stafford. From the marriage intentions of John Carpenter of Swansea, published at Rehoboth on 19 March 1747/8, it is presumed that he married a third time, to widow Hannah Martin of Rehoboth (not Warwick, Rhode Island).[] Despite Amos Carpenter’s having this John Carpenter migrate to Connecticut (and acquire all the children and the second wife of the Connecticut man of that name), there is substantial evidence that he lived continuously at Swansea until at least 1754: his father’s estate inventory and distribution, both made at Swansea in 1727, mention the land and house there of John Carpenter;[] the record of his namesake son’s first marriage, in 1749, refers to the groom as “Jun.”;[] and he appears in Swansea church records periodically from 1731 to 1754.[] With this last of the three John Carpenters whose identities have been so thoroughly confused, we have come almost full circle: his father, Benjamin4 Carpenter, was the brother of John4 Carpenter of East Greenwich, with whom we began.
Child of John and Sarah (Thurston) Carpenter:
i. Hannah6 Carpenter, b. Rehoboth 16 July 1718;[] probably the Hannah Carpenter who m. Stafford, Conn., 7 Nov. 1750 Samuel Kent (not [Killingly, Conn.] 23 Nov. 1752 Thomas Ormsbee).[] Samuel Kent’s wife Hannah d. probably in the mid to late 1750s (almost certainly before 5 June 1786).[]
That John5 (Oliver4) and Sarah (_____) Carpenter were the only couple of that surname at Stafford when Hannah Carpenter married Samuel Kent makes them the logical choice as her parents. The births and baptisms of their seven known children, however, transpired with classic continuity from 1720 to 1733 and were systematically recorded (see above); Hannah is not among them. One might nevertheless suppose that she was an unrecorded daughter of the Stafford couple, born before 1720 (perhaps in Rhode Island). Consistent with this hypothesis is that Hannah (Carpenter) Kent’s second daughter was named Sarah.[] There is reason to believe, however, that Hannah’s daughter Sarah was the namesake of one or both wives of John5 (Benjamin4) Carpenter of Swansea. Hannah, daughter of Sarah (Thurston) Carpenter and the stepdaughter of Sarah (Hillard) Carpenter, had a connection with Stafford. Sarah (Thurston) Carpenter’s sister Bethiah married at Rehoboth on 7 Dec. 1721, Joseph Kent Jr., and their son Samuel [who would be Hannah’s first cousin] was born there on 17 Jan. 1724/5.[] In late 1744 the Kent family migrated to Stafford, where they were living when the Carpenter–Kent marriage occurred.[] In that Samuel Kent was twenty-five when he married, his having been six and a half years younger than his Carpenter cousin would have been relatively insignificant.
Children of John and Sarah (Hillard) Carpenter, born at Swansea:[]
ii. Barnard Carpenter, b. 26 June 1723; living at or near Dover, Dutchess Co., N.Y., in 1771;[] m. Swansea 30 Aug. 1744 [sic] Alse/Alice Lake.[]

The Beekman Patent book (vol 3 - page 240) indicates John Carpenter's farm was taxed at Beekman in Feb. and June 1761. This was either this John or his son John. More likey the son.

    To:         "John R. Carpenter"
John,
I have not kept you entirely up to date on my research into the line of John son of Benjamin and Renew Weeks and the *other* mysterious contemporaneous John, Sr.
BUT so far I have established that there were two couples:
1. John Carpenter, Sr and Sarah Thurston, born 29 June 1691 to John and Hannah Carey Thurston, married 1717 in Rehoboth had son John, Jr. 30 April 1728 in Norwich, CT.
2. John Carpenter, Sr. and Sarah Hillard, born 28 June 1692, "Little Compton, Bristol, MA" to William Hillard and Deborah Warren. They were "of Swansea" and had the John, Jr. born 4 Januaty 1728 in Swansea.
Of the blended issue of these two marriages, Warren and Barnard definitely belong with the John born to John Carpenter, Sr and Sarah Hillard.
The John Carpenter, Jr., son of John Carpenter, Sr. and Sarah THURSTON is the John, Jr. that married Mary Loomis.
When an update and correction goes out on this it will be in the form of a MAJOR article, thoroughtly documented, and I want NOTHING to get out about this until I find that other John Carpenter, Sr. and knit this all together PERFECTLY.
Nevertheless, thought you should know.  MAKE NO CORRECTIONS YET!
Land and probate records pending, and I am still in the thick of this, and getting help from Gene Z. and others.
Regards, and thanks again for  your help.  Found somethig very helpful on that page you sent.

Subject: [CARPENTER] John Carpenter of Holliston & Meday, MA c1705-1776
I have come across a John Carpenter who lived at Holliston, Mass., in
1730, at which time he married Margaret Leland of Sherborne.  They
ended up in nearby Medway, where he died in 1776, supposedly aged 71.
Does anyone know where he was born and who his parents were?  I note
that there was a John Carpenter born at Rehoboth in 1705, but I have
no way of knowing whether that's the same John.

John,
I'm finishing up an article for the NEHG REGISTER that rectifies widely
accepted misidentifications of three John Carpenters, all descendants of
William of Rehoboth and born in the second half of the seventeenth century.
In the course of supporting my identification of the the wives of John5
Carpenter of Swansea (Benjamin4, Joseph3, William2-1), I mention in a
footnote that "in or near Swansea, almost fifteen years separated the birth
of John5 (Benjamin4) and that of the same-named person nearest his age (John
Carpenter, b. Rehoboth, 7 Feb. 1705, son of William Jr. and Elizabeth
[Robinson] Carpenter, and perhaps he who d. Medway, Mass., 17 Oct. 1776, in
his 72d yr.) (Rehoboth VR, 1:48, 61; VITAL RECORDS OF MEDFIELD,
MASSACHUSETTS, TO THE YEAR 1850 [Boston, 1905], 296)."  In that the latter
John Carpenter is a peripheral figure in the article, I had no need (and made
no effort) to resolve the issue of whether he and the Medway man were one and
the same.
As you've probably noticed, the names of three of Medway John's
children--Amos, Jesse, and Patience--are also those of some of Rehoboth
John's Carpenter cousins.  Although Medway John's daughter Elizabeth's name
is the same as Rehoboth John's mother, it's too common to draw any
conclusions.  Have you checked Bristol Co. land records to see if Rehoboth
John executed a grantor deed indicating a place of residence other than
Attleborough (his father died there in 1718/9) or vicinity?  If Medway John
had previously owned land at Holliston, perhaps the Middlesex Co. land record
of his initial purchase there gives his previous place of residence.  If
you've already investigated these possibilities, please let me know.  If you
haven't but plan to, please let me know what you learn.
Thanks.
Gene Z.

Sarah Thurston

NAME: Thursten or Thurston.

BIRTH: One AF record has her born in 1683 and dying in 1744.
AF has birth as 16 Jan 1689 Swansea, Bristol, MA Daughter of Daniel & Hanah (Miller) Thurston. AFN: HRJR-CS
Gene Zubrinsky research places her birth as: 29 Jul 1691 at Medfield,, MA and lists her as the daughter of John and Hanah (Cary) Thurston. This is the one I will follow.
Note:
By dating Sarah’s death in 1744, Amos Carpenter implies that she was the mother of all eleven children he attributes to Benjamin and Renew Carpenter’s son John.

1016. Hannah Carpenter

Number 641 in the Carpenter Memorial.  Page 124
She probably married Thomas Ormsbee.

"Child of John and Sarah (Thurston) Carpenter:
i. Hannah6 Carpenter, b. Rehoboth 16 July 1718;[] probably the Hannah Carpenter who m. Stafford, Conn., 7 Nov. 1750 Samuel Kent (not [Killingly, Conn.] 23 Nov. 1752 Thomas Ormsbee).[] Samuel Kent’s wife Hannah d. probably in the mid to late 1750s (almost certainly before 5 June 1786)."
See father's notes.
This continues with a note why she was confused with another Carpenter family.
"That John5 (Oliver4) and Sarah (_____) Carpenter were the only couple of that surname at Stafford when Hannah Carpenter married Samuel Kent makes them the logical choice as her parents. 1724/5.[] In late 1744 the Kent family migrated to Stafford, where they were living when the Carpenter–Kent marriage occurred.[] In that Samuel Kent was twenty-five when he married, his having been six and a half years younger than his Carpenter cousin would have been relatively insignificant."

1017. Harriet Carpenter See notes

Number 642 in the Carpenter Memorial.  Page 124
Per Gene Zubrinsky, this person is non-existant and should be removed from the family.

The Beekman Patent book (vol 3 - page 240) indicates Harriet was a twin of Hannah b. 16 Jul 1718.

Some claim there was another daughter named Mehitable was in this family. No proof given and she is not included in this record. Gene Zubrinsky is likely right about this Harriet, but for now, she is left in the family.

Sarah Hillard

NAME:
Last name starts with "H" but rest of name not ledgible.
Some claim her first name as Martha, but Sarah Hillard is what the records indicate

Hannah Martin A Widow

"From the marriage intentions of John Carpenter of Swansea, published at Rehoboth on 19 March 1747/8, it is presumed that he married a third time, to widow Hannah Martin of Rehoboth (not Warwick, Rhode Island)." - See husband's notes.
