Lucy Carpenter Follon
Birth: 1789 Washington County, Vermont, USA
Death: 6 Feb 1867 (aged 77–78) Darlington, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, USA
Burial: Schwartz Cemetery, Avon, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, USA
Memorial #: 28485246
Bio:
Lucy Carpenter was born in 1789 to Reuben Carpenter (1762-1830) and Anna (1762-1835). The Carpenter family left Vermont and headed west, settling in Franklin County, Ohio about 1805.

Lucy met and married Thomas Follon of Franklin County, Ohio, in 1813. There were at least 8 children born to Thomas and Lucy: William, Aaron, Augustine, Orlando, Sophia, Reuben, Alvira, and Henry.

After Thomas Follon died in 1841, Lucy left Franklin Co. Ohio for Darlington, Wisconsin, to be near her brother Royal Carpenter and other family members. Several of the Follon children also went to Wisconsin and remained there. Lucy died in Darlington in 1867.

Lucy's mother Anna, may possibly be Anna Rood or Anna Stacy. I am unable to find a marriage record for Anna Rood and Reuben Carpenter, although a history book account mentions Reuben of Worthington, Ohio, who married a Rood. There is a marriage record for Reuben Carpenter and Anna Stacy, in Somers, CT in 1788. Lucy's brother Cyrus, has the middle name of Stacy. Either Reuben Carpenter married twice, or Anna Stacy m. a Rood and became Anna Rood, or the history book information of a Carpenter-Rood marriage is in error.

I am so very grateful for a wonderful volunteer named Marilyn, who went to the cemetery to take a picture of Lucy's marker for me. She found no marker on Lucy's gravesite, but saw a pile of stones nearby. Marilyn actually dug in the mud, to uncover several markers that were broken. One was Lucy's! Thank you Marilyn!Inscription: Lucy / Wife Of / Thomas Follon / Died / Feb. 6, 1867
