BIRTH: 2 May 1802 per the above record and in one place in the IGI 20 May 1802.
MARRIAGE: 17 Jul 1825 per the above record.  In one place in the IGI it has the marriage at: Providence, Providence, RI and in another IGI record it is 18 Jul 1825 in Rome, Oneida, NY. Another has 29 Jul 1825 and another has 30 Jul 1825.  At least they agree it was in the later half of July 1825!

CENSUS:  Living with daughter in 1880 US Census.

Family on page 614 and 615 (# 1058).

A tanner and a shoemaker.

This family is confusing due to the fact that all children were given to
Elizabeth (Betsey) Smith in the computer record.
Children have been sorted according to birth and marriage dates.
The last Abel (b. 1883) was married 1853 and died 1886 but was married and
had children.  This indicates another Abel in the family, probably born
between 1823 and 1828 the father of Abel who was born in 1883.

Elizabeth Smith

He and one other left the party and continued thier journey on foot from there
to California.  Their shoes and clothes were very much worn and they were much

Question???? There is no Charles from VT on the 1880 US Census for California!
