Greetings, I am not related to you but I've come across something that might be of interest to you. As a hobby and as a favor to other genealogists, I match the genealogy in old family bibles for sale on Ebay with family trees on Ancestry.com. Today I made such a match with your tree. This particular Bible appears to have belonged to Stephen Carpenter, husband of Philanda Heath and Catherine Boright (not positive about spelling of Catherine's surname, but that's what it looks like in the Bible.) The Bible includes the following information: Stephen Carpenter married Philinda Heath on June 7, 1795 Asa Carpenter born Sept. 24, 1796; drown on May __, 1823 (exact date difficult to read) Aseneth Carpenter born Dec. 8, 1798. Edwin Carpenter born Jan. 29, 1801 Stephen Philinda Carpenter born July 9, 1803 Stephen Carpenter Jr. born Aug. 19, 1805; died Dec. 3, 1875, age 71 years, 3 months, 14 days Bradford Carpenter born Sept. 22, 1807 Orson Carpenter born March 31, 1811 Harriet Carpenter born Sept. 15, 1814 Jane Carpenter born June 11, 1817 Cloe Carpenter born June 25, 1820 Albert Carpenter born Nov. 18, 1822 DEATHS "Stephen Carpenter Twin" died Aug. 18, 1804 Philinda Carpenter, wife of Stephen Carpenter, died May 22, 1824 Stephen Carpenter Senior and Catherine Boright married Feb. 13, 1825 Stephen Carpenter Sr. born March 19, 1770; died Dec. 28, 1855, age 86 years, 9 months Philinda Carpenter born April 9, 1779, wife of Stephen Catherine Carpenter, wife of Stephen, born 1772 [New Page] Lucretia E. Carpenter born Feb. 7, 1834; died May 9, 1844 E__________ Carpenter born Jan. 26, 1836 (first name difficult to read) Mary An born Jan. 16, 1838; died Feb. 27, 1838 Nathaniel B. Carpenter born December 27, 1838 Laura A. Anderson born Aug. 17, 1838 Elsa Carpenter born March 12, 1841 John H. Carpenter born April 27, 1843; died Jan. 20, 1844 Rodney Carpenter born Aug. 17, 1845; died April 16, 1844 George W. Carpenter born April 13, 1848 Julia _____ born Aug. 1853 Emma Jane born May 12, 1850 Jane C., wife of Stephen Carpenter, died Aug. 3, 1886, age 77 years, 5 months, 29 days [new page] Stephen Carpenter Jr. born Aug. 19, 1805 Jane Carpenter born Feb. 5, 1807 Charles H. born April 19, 1852 Anett Winona Carpenter born Sept. 27, 1854 There also appears to be quite a bit of genealogy on the Bickford family, most of which is too light for me to attempt to transcribe. However, Jane Bickford, I believe, was the wife of Stephen Carpenter Jr. So I deduce that this genealogy is from her family. It might very well be, too, that the Bible -- either originally or eventually -- belonged to Stephen Jr. and Jane. I transcribed this the best I could but I cannot vouch 100 percent for my accuracy. I would suggest you view the pages your yourself by going to this Ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1846-old-Leather-HOLY-BIBLE-BICKFORD-CARPENTER-family-VT-NH-Canada-/370668737087?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D2858138282548692574%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D110939808457%26 The Bible was published in 1846 and the deadline for bidding -- if you're interested -- is Oct. 23 at 10:07 Pacific time (1:07 p.m. Eastern time). Current bidding is at $23.49 though that might change by the time you read this. Based in their bidding history, those bidding on it appear to be collectors/dealers. FYI: I do NOT own this Bible, do not know the seller and in no way will I profit from its sale. I do this as a favor to other genealogists in an attempt to help preserve the genealogy bibles like this provide and, if it works out, to reunite the Bible with its proper family. If you don't want to bid on it, you can always download the pages for your records. I hope this is of some help to you. Blessings, Andy Smith Tampa, FL

The Vermont Historical Gazetteer: A Magazine, Embracing a History ..., Volume 2
edited by Abby Maria Hemenway
Richford, Page 287
Jonathan Carpenter was one of the early settlers of this town (Richford). He was born in Rutland, 1784. His father moved to Berkshire when he was quite young, where he lived for a while. He was soon obligated to rely wholly upon his own excertions and, therefore, apprenticed himself to a tanner and shoemaker, where by dilligent application to bussiness and study, he formed habits which shaped his after life.
He came to this town as early as 1800 and in 1810, he married Patience Rogers, daughter of Rev. Wm. Rogers, and settled on a small farm bordering the Canada line, he built a rude log house in which he lived, and a small shop for shoe-making -- this was also made of logs. ...
In 1826, he commenced business at the (Great) Falls, on the north side of the river, on the site where O. J. Smith's boot and shoe-store now stands. ...
He was an enterprising and influential citizen, possessed of a sound judgement, and scrupulously honest. He held nearly all town offices, justice of the peace for 25 or 30 years in succession, town clerk a number of years. He was the first mover in the cause of temperance in this town, and was during his life a firm supporter of the cause. He was a believer in the christian religion, and died in the faith, sept. 1859.

Carpenter, Polly D., d. July 17, 1875 (I need to find which Polly this is)

The given names of Guy Carlton were for an English hero from the War of the Rebellion (or better known in the States as the American Revolution).

Sir Guy Carlton, Canada?s 20th governor earned his title when knighted in 1776 for withstanding the American Invasion against Quebec. Had the Americans been successful in that campaign, Canada might have become America?s 14th state in New England.

Historians have given mixed reviews about Sir Guy Carlton?s personality. Some refer to him as mean-tempered and misrepresenting his reportsto the head office, while others characterize him as a ?venerable Irishman with a mild character, honest, virtuous and a good Christian.?
